So now we have arrived in Bangkok after so called successful tours of Indonesia and Austrailia. My question is as we build to the season opener is do we really benefit from playing these types of games in these far away countries who at the end of the day are not football countries and these country select sides will never provide adequate tests which we need, when you take into consideration all the traveling it makes me wonder.
I honestly think better preparation would be to stay at home and play lower league teams, the Preston game was arguably out hardest game even though the scoreline made it look easy. I notice a few of Europes big Clubs are doing there pre season games here in England like Galatasaray and Madrid and both are using England's soccer centre St George's.
I think if your going to travel great distances why not go to footballing countries like Argentina or Brazil to get valuable good practice matches., I really don't see sense going to places like Austrailia, the Far East, Africa or even India which are not footballing countries and will never provide stern teams which will prepare us for a season opener.
I am not talking about the money side of things here just the footballing side.

£££££££££ and some more ££££££££.

We need to do it financially. They may not have great football sides but they are proper mad on the sport and will flock to see us. Just look at the crowd in the MCG. It was about 95000 and not even UTD sold the place out.

It may seem like a waste of time but every bit of revenue helps and we can't turn it down.

You are right about the football the best preparation would be good diet and rest and friendlies against similar teams they are to face in three weeks. But since when has the footballing side been the priority ?

Need money 2 compete and every little helps.

These games are nothing more than gentle warm ups for the real thing and if some fans get to see the team in the process then that's an excellent bonus.

You have to build up to match fitness so these easy games are ideal. Make a [oops] load of cash from it too and it's all good. It also means the confidence should be good if we win all our pre-season games.

All the big teams do it, but teams like stoke and west brom don't. So I guess we should stop the tours really and just forget about the millions of fans around the world that would love to watch liverpool.

In your world liverpool are a nothing club with no hope, the majority of the world see it differently laugh

The fan base we have is what keeps us as a big club. The annoying thing is we could be bigger.

to be honest am not really worried about what's best for the worldwide fanbase, my priority is what's best for the club and team and the best preparation for the start of the season, charity begins at home, we have to put football before money when preparing for a new season.

Your priority is what is best for you.

You cannot run a successful football club without money.

All the other top club in Europe tour all over the world every pre season.

Every season one of these top teams wins their own country's league title and one of them wins the Champions League.

So these tours have absolutely no detrimental effect on these teams so why should our team be affected?

I think its for about the £ than anything and making us an even bigger brand, expanding our name. There is no doubt that we will be leaving the far east with more fans and alot more shirt sales.

As well as getting our fitness up abit (them countrys are hot!), giving the new lads a run out and also winning no matter who its against wont do our confidence any harm going into our first prem fixture.
