Ok so people are praising our new philosephy(?) for a while now and saying its the only way forward, some use Arsenal as an example whilst others choose to use your Munich's, Barcelona's, Dortmund's etc.
Ok firstly, the ONLY reason Arsenal went down the route of buying youth for the future is because youth and hopefuls are cheap and at the time they were about to fund a huge new stadium so had no other choice.
Secondly, the clubs mentioned that were trying to follow already had a successful system in place and were already in the Champions League. Also the clubs mentioned are in league's where lets be honest they have no competition for the Champions League so can afford to implement this new style or image.
Thirdly, Liverpool Football Club do not have 1 thing in common with these clubs who have successfully implemented the system were in, we dont have Champions League football and Champions League revenue, we are not in a league where we wont drop places unless there's serious drastic changes (we will drop places if we continue).
Fourth, and lastly, more importantly, these clubs have NOT successfully implemented a system where they bring through youth players and stay winning, dont fool yourselves, look at Barca, Milan, Munich etc, they spend HUGE amounts when they do splash out.
I dont think the new system we want will bring success, nor do i think it will bring failure, to be honest i reckon it will leave us smack bang right where we currently are, with or without Suarez too, and that for me is very, very worrying, why are us as fans not demanding more? Ticket prices, memorbilia, prices of pies etc at games are that of a club which wins leagues and European cups and whilst this happens at the same time on the home front Everton just pluck each new, young footie fan from the city with there many different events and fantastic but fair prices.
We also just spend a fair few million pounds on Aspas and Alberto, if this was United who spend that on them we would laugh our asses off at them signings "unheard ofs".
So my question to you is this, how do you personally motivate yourselves to follow this once great club? How do you feel knowing that a club that was once for the people is now no more than a coorperate entity? Stan, Faz and even Mick (Coolflames), i salute you, YOUR club has been taken from you and flipped, turned and burnt in to some kind of money run monster that i no longer have words to describe, and i'm afraid to say it but for those who are optimistic, the coming season will be a carbon copy of the last and this i promise.

I can support Lazio Wakka and love them almost as much as Liverpool, but no i cant support another team in England proper not now anyway the way the game is gone, Liverpool are like my neighbour James who once had it all before the wife left, my other Neighbour Steve is like United now, pr!ck has a brand new mercedes, brunette wife with nice tats and a lovely St. Bernard. I want us to have a St. Bernard Wakka. (St. Bernard being the EPL trophy). Oh and Steve also supports United to so is not just like em, priick.

You can support another team. I come from a place where there was no top flight team and supported them through thin and even thinner. You get your rewards eventually when you get a day at Wembley and see your team win there. They are still my team but I have more time for Liverpool now. Partly through a long standing admiration for the club partly through some of our players ending up at Anfield. They chose a good home and remain loyal to the club to this day. Me? I find I support both teams and although I got over 130 away games under my belt following my home town team for quality I choose to watch Liverpool. Rivals? None come bigger to me than the mob 30 miles down the road. And at my age I see beating them as big a deal as beating Man u.

Good post and someone who has indentifed where we are as a club which is firmly in the second tier of the premiership neither good nor bad. But priced as a top club.

That is a very good post Esso, not sure i've had time to ever dish it out with you on here before but well said, out of curiousity who's the other team bar Liverpool? Also that last line is what i'm missing to be honest as a football fan, i remember under Rafa the derby games against Everton were more important than the ones against United to me, now its just another team each week, i do love playing United and Everton and wish all games were like that, but still as a club were missing something for the past 2 decades, well the last 14 or 15 years of my time following football and Liverpool anyway. Also a bit off topic, but does anybody remember those European Nights under Rafa? Not hinting at a Rafa love in now either but i remember watching at home on TV on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, all day at school waiting to get home to watch us no doubt make hard work out of the opposition and turn what should be run of the mill match night in to my greatest memories. The night against Porto we beat them 4 - 1, not a big night by any means in our history but just the games like that, the night we beat PSV away and Torres, Gerrard and Riise scored, my 3 favourite players at that time, even in the qualifiers not sure of the opposition but i remember Voronin scoring a worldie on his 2nd or 3rd game against a smaller team. Great time. And no Wakka, i now realize i will never support another club.
