The way I see it, Toure played at Arsenal for quite a while. Arsenal played a short passing game simillar to what we are trying to employ at the moment, and there is no better fit for us than him at this moment. He knows the game, he knows the style, he has the experience, he has the leadership capabilities, he has the respect and most of all, he still has the skills.
I think he is a great piece of business, perhaps our best signing so far this window, better than Aspas as a signing in my opinion.

Not sure Aspas would like that Prolific, Toure couldn't keep his place in the City team, so can’t be as great as you make him out to be, also I didn’t notice a long list of suiters for his signature when we went for him. The truth is we wouldn’t have looked twice at him if he wasn’t for free.

Whether Aspas would appreciat it is a different matter altogether, but the fact is, Toure did not lose his place in the city team, he was banned. Whether he should have been or not is also a different matter.
Once his ban expired it was very hard to gain form and break into the team with so many quality defenders already and a manager whom I don't think highly of.
Also, as I said, we will just wait and see exactly what we got. Only time will tell, but i think he is a monster of a signing.

We're not at that level so his ability might be a better fit for us.

Well if we keep thinking and signing players on that basis, we’re never likely to be at that level though Carheex, this has been my point about our approach to signings under our current policy, i.e. we only went for Toure because he was going for nothing, and our other signings because they were cheap. In this window, of all windows, we should be focusing on quality rather than price. If we continue on this basis, we’ll never get a team together that can challenge for the league, or even for 4th.

'tis a catch 22 for sure. We need top players to compete for the league but the top players will only come once we're already competing. Don't blame me!

I don't know Annefield, Aspas seems quality to me..regardless of price. Just like Coutinho....If we were going by price we would have to say Allen is better than Coutinho, which at the moment he clearly isn't.

Yeah, you may well be right about Aspas, I haven’t seen him play, and I agree about Coutinho, he did look like a good find last transfer window, as did Sturridge. I suppose you can expect the odd nugget in a scattergun approach, but in general its wasteful and unlikely to produce the results we need, i.e 2 -3 top signings for a chance of 4th and 4 - 5 top signings to challenge for top honours. At this point I’d settle for 2 - 3 and a shot at that 4th spot.
