In an interesting turn of events, Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic has given an interview to his native Serbian media in which he says that he would not mind one bit if Luis Suarez joined Chelsea.

Ivanovic said he had forgiven Suarez for biting him during Chelsea’s game against Liverpool in April, an infamous misstep which earned the controversial Uruguayan a 10-match ban.

“What happened on the field finished there,” Ivanovic said in Bangkok during Chelsea’s pre-season tour. “He’s one of the best strikers in the Premier League and I don’t have any problem or any doubt about him.”

Suarez’s reputation plummeted anew after the biting row — which followed an earlier race storm — but Chelsea are in the market for a new striker, meaning the Uruguayan is a possible target.

Suarez has raised the prospect of moving to a different club, although Liverpool have stressed that he is not for sale and rejected a 30-million pound ($45 million) from Arsenal, according to reports.

Chelsea transfer targets reportedly include Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney and Christian Benteke of Aston Villa, while Ivanovic has been linked with a move to France’s Paris Saint Germain.

But the 29-year-old, sitting next to his new boss Jose Mourinho as he faced journalists in the ballroom of a plush Bangkok hotel, played down the rumour.

“We are not so focused on that kind of thing,” he said.

“I’ve always said I’m happy to be here. I will do everything and I will work hard to do everything for the club and nothing will change until the last day I’m here,” Ivanovic added.

There's no reason why Branislav should mind if Suarez joined chelsea at all. No blood was drawn, no teeth marks were left and no bruising came out. As usual, it was a mountain out of a molehill. The pain inflicted would have been no more severe than if he'd been kicked - and you can't object to someone joining your club because they kicked you or tripped you on the pitch before.

Exactly, people played up the Ivanovic thing too far. It was a stupid, however timid bite. Its not like Suarez sent him to the hospital for a month or so.

I don't really see how this ends well in any way. There is obviously a shortage of the finest strikers at the moment, it is mumbling on without looking like any quick resolution. Chelsea must be keeping an eye on it and Madrid. We won't even get near a top drawer name with no European football and the clock is ticking yet again.

If we got £50 million the price on anyone Rogers managed to find for a punt would double. The similarities between this and the Torres mess seem uncanny to me. I see absolutely no hand other than to dismiss all offers. Ayre will have to try and spin a you can go the end of the season yarn and see if Suarez will take it which I very much doubt.

I know I've been spoilt with Suarez but finding some poor substitute just depresses more than ever now with the state of play. Apologies I'm starting to sound and feel like Stan!

Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.
