yes good points there, do you think players better diets and training help players more then, what I mean is players training these days is more tailored to running on beautiful pitches whereas years ago you needed different types of training to withstand heavy, mud and waterlogged pics not to mention knee high challenges, you also had to contend with nearly 80 games a season if you happend to be a good team. I can't see how players today could be fitter when most can't play two games in a week and need resting, they also can't play a game abroad without traveling first class and stay in a five star hotel with comfy bed with there own Chef with them, just a thought.

You could compare that to an f1 car and a rally car. Sure the rally car would cream the f1 on a dirt track and the f1 would be supreme on a road to which it was designed for.

f1 vs rally vs road

The difference though would be that human beings can adapt to their environment. So you could dump a modern day footballer in the past and he'll end up getting massacred for a season or two but he would get used to it eventually. Similarly you could go grab Tommy Smith and bring him in todays game and he would spend most of his time banned to begin with. Then I'm sure he would adapt.. probably.

yes some very good points there, I reckon the older players would think the current pitches and conditions would be heaven sent from what they were used to, imagine how fast and fit they would be not having to run around on the boggy pitches of old. Would a person who can run 100 metres on sand in 12,seconds be faster than Usain Bolt if he was allowed to run and train on that track in Monaco or something, think he would myself like.
