It was mentioned in another thread that the EPL is on the slide. Maybe we just take it for granted though.....
If you go back over the last 15 years, the CL Final has been contested by the following:
EPL: 9 teams in the champions league final (4 different clubs). La Liga: 7 finals (3 different clubs) , Bundesliga: 7 finals (3 different clubs), Seria A: 5 finals (3 different clubs,
Plus 1 final each from France and Portugal.
To me, that shows that we are still the strongest league in Europe and we provide more different clubs in the final than anyone else, which is a very telling stat about the quality of a league. Even if you go back just 5 or 6 years so that the data is more recent, there are still no countries with more CL final teams than the EPL. Interestingly, the more recent data shows Germany catching up but La Liga on the decline despite Barcelona's recent record.

The premiership is made for TV and is enjoyed best on the TV.
The match going fans have been forgotten in this revolution. We were discussing in the pub all our local big clubs utd Liverpool city have no atmosphere to speak of anymore and the position on the TV is false because sky put microphones in certain places to make the crowd noise seem louder.

I'm not really sure what that has got to do with how the EPL stacks up against other leagues though....

The thread is about how the quality of the EPL teams compare againts other european leagues. Maybe I should have made it more clear by giving a breakdown of how well each league has done in europe.....

The EPL has the tv rights fee, therefore most popular worldwide, so at least one of the strongest leagues if not the strongest. However, mainly because of foreign players, managers and owners.

Bring back the old first division, the premiership blows. It has for Liverpool Standing sections, 3pm Saturday kick off's, muddy bogmire pitches in winter, atmosphere, players with personality, moustaches... the game is a shadow of it's former self. No mi gusta mucho

the premier league is a money making product that is very exciting to watch , but on the whole is low on quality , even when the english teams were doing well in the CL it was real madrid , barcelona , ac and inter milan etc etc who were favorites every season , i would say the last time the english top flight was truly number one in the world was the 70's and 80's .
