Tbh I'm nor sure on this one, obviously he's scum and deserves everything he gets but would anyone here put it past the police to decide he's in the mire anyway so lets "patsy" him for as much as possible. Hence it was only ever 1 bad apple and the rest of the force is squeaky clean!!!

This man will receive a huge taxpayer funded pension and look at the BBC payouts to dud executives paying them millions above what was contracted. The whole of the public sector in the UK is corrupt. Not everyone who works in it of course but certaintly those establishment figures at the top councils, NHS, police, civil service all the same.

And somehow, people seem to think that MORE government involvement is the answer.

Yes but It all has it roots in the political system and the way the politicians and party power brokers are owned and paid for by business interests. They (politicians) recruit, bully and promote those civil servants and public servants who are most amenable to implement policy in the interest of their business and financial sector owners. The solution is not to get rid or even less of government but to change it.

Not sure I agree with that Anne field yes big business has an influence but the civil service runs Britain not politicians. That programme yes minster was a comedy but it was very true. The public sector is corupt as we saw in hillsborough when the police the NHS and the judiciary closed ranks. As the bbc did with jimmy saville and the millions paid out as payoffs to fellow executives for which the [oops] office is now involved
