If Tottenham lose Bale, why do you think that they'll strenghten more than Liverpool? 1) no point in discussing IF spurs lose a player or not until it happens (what IF we lose suarez..?) 2) they're about to sign an extremely good midfielder so are already better off than last season 3) IF IF IF IF IF IF IF they lose bale, what makes you think they wouldn't be stronger by investing the £50m-£60m fee on quality players? As it stands, I'm not sure we've improved on last years squad yet. We've lost Carragher and replaced him with Toure. And we've signed 2 very unproven spaniards - anything could happen with them. Aspas had a good season in tier 2 followed by a reasonable season in top flight. That makes him a danny graham or a ricky lambert, but without EPL experience. I usually enjoy reading your posts but you are writing nonsense this time. Aspas did not have a reasonable season in La liga. If you look at his contribution and influence overall his stats are better than Messi. I am not saying he is a better player, but he had a cracking season in La Liga not a reasonable one. Also IF IF IF IF IF we lose Suarez, who says we wont invest 50-60 million in imroving the squad?

If Aspas was as influential as you say then bigger and better clubs than Liverpool would have shown an interest. I'm not saying he or Alberto won't be a success - I'm just saying that they are unproven and could go either way. They are typical of the type of signing we can expect these days....'punts'. It would be wrong to say we have strengthened our squad when our only outfield signing are an ageing, unwanted Toure, and 2 spaniards that weren't sought after and have never played in the EPL.

Have to agree with that, I hope and pray these 'punt's' come good, but its a gamble and as we all know with transfers the odds are against us. It would seem the FSG criteria is; if they are cheap and on low wages then sign them up and we'll worry about their performance levels later. If we get into the top 4 with this approach it'll be only because Rodgers is a wizard, but they're extinct now that Fergie's gone!

I'm sorry, but you have no idea whether other clubs were in for Aspas or Alberto. you know only what you read in the press and I am almost positive others looked at Aspas. You constantly say, that just because it's been said or hasn't been said in the media, doesnt make it true or false.
If the players perform, they are as good as any big name signing. Chelsea have bought Schurrle, City got Fernandinho for much bigger fees, but there is no proof they will perform in the EPL. Morientes springs to mind, a fantastic player who just didnt fit into the EPL. It all breaks down to whether they perform or not, and before we see that, we cannot say others will strengthen more than us.

But I would say Liverpool are no longer playing at the top table so because generally we are investing at a lower evel that must increase the risk they will not perform at that level.

What he means is others will spend more money on bigger names than us. Every player needs to make his name somewhere lets hope the unknowns we've brought will be household names this time next year.

It's possible some of them might be nuggets in the rough, but the odds are against it, and anyway it takes a long time to polish these rough diamonds and too many turn out to be false hopes. I hope I'm wrong but this really is a poor man's approach and nine out of ten delivers a poor man's result, we're looking for miracles here, is this what we've come to accept now?

You are so full of it...Hyppia was not a household name, nor was Agger, nor was Alonso, nor was Luis Garcia, nor was Arbeloa, nor was Reina, nor was Michu, nor Isco, nor Pedro, nor Tello,....need I go on?

Yes Marko but you are missing the point. Yes Liverpool have signed too payers at cheap prices the best example being Keegan. But we also were in the market for the best players. Now thanks to your friends FSG we have to buy cheap and pray for miracles just like west brom etc.
