Just wanted to gauge everyones feelings on this.
Thus far we have signed Toure, Aspas and Alberto and if rumours are to be believed, could also possibly be signing Mignolet, Atsu, Papadopoulos and Mkhitaryan sometime over this window period.
Whilst most of these players would improve the squad nowhere have I read or heard any talk about a proper DM being looked at to provide cover for Lucas yet this is one of the positions we desperately need improvement on/cover for.
Is anyone else as concerned as I am about this ? Or do most think that what we have now is good enough ?
Thoughts please.

We dont need one, Spearing is back from Bolton now played the whole season was one of their best players, am hoping for 3 in the middle Spearing and Lucas sitting deep with Coutinho the spearhead.
No,this is not a good town for psychedelic drugs.Reality itself is too twisted.

Was thinking the same about Toure. He'd take to it like a duck to water and exactly what we need.
Thompson, why have Spearing when you can get Diame for around £3.5m ?

Was joking Jules, and i'm with Marko here Diame is very over rated, West Ham fans say on the forums he only plays good when the Sky camera's on him. Wanyama for me 10 million for DM, Honda on a free for CM or LW/RW, Alderweild/Dragovic/Papa for CB, if Suarez is sold then bring in Giuseppe Rossi rumours have it he's available and for the price of 8 - 13 million quoted would be a steal. Eric Abidal back up for Enrique, at 33 the guy has a year or 2 left and knows the tika taka buulshiit, Our squad with these players and maybe less money spent than we have/will we would look ALOT better imo.

Anyone else that watches more footie than most know of any other quality available DM's out there?

It's about finding a DM that has good timing and a good positional sense, a player that can push the attackers away from goal and make crucial tackles when called to. Lucas doesn't have very good positional sense, that's why it seems like attackers break through to the box quite easily at times, they're not pushed towards the corner, sideline or away from the defense.
We've been linked to Juraj Kucka and there has been links to Wanyama. Wanyama is a good DM, especially for a young age. But there are other really good players out there like Gary Medel who we could get from a team in need of funds. We could take a chance on Luiz Gustavo, who would be a long shot, but he isn't playing as much as he would like. Gonalons is a good young player for Lyon too, might be able to grab him.
But Wanyama would be nice to get, and we are being linked with him. Lets just hope that there is some truth to it especially as it looks like spurs are about to get Paulinho and have the best DM in the league with Sandro already. They'll have Paulinho, Sandro and Dembele. We need to match that at least.

So far we have only bought a CB on a free because he is closer to the dawn of his carreer (though KT was very good a few years back, I think he will be more of a squad player now on). Had the same feeling last year when we bought Allen, probably could be very good (based on his first 3 games) but was never a priority. I hope we do buy very good players in those positions or I fear we will have problems defensively.

I agree to some degree, but in saying that, I think that if we pick up a really good CB without pick up a good DM. Then we're still going to leak goals. If we pick up a really good DM without picking up a CB, I think our defense will be strong.
