The most recent set of accounts go to may '12. These don't take into account the reduction in wages or the increase in commercial revenue such as the warrior kit deal. There is also going to be a huge boost in terms of tv money going forward.

The accounts for May 2013 will be a lot closer to breaking even and even better when the new deal takes effect in the may 2014 accounts. I don't think we are dependant on getting top 4 this season as we have sufficient sponsorship contracts in the immediate future but we do need to get back to the champions league within the next 3 seasons and/or see significant progress on a new stadium

The tv money you can exclude as all clubs will receive it. What matters is our progress relative to our rivals. I don't see signifcant or progress on that front

It will help us break even was why I was including it. The only way we will improve on our rivals is through a new stadium

I hear they are close to expanding anfield, just need to purchase a couple more local properties first which is causing the delay.

Don't be that daft mate! Do you not think that the club have done any research into the redevelopment? West ham, Newcastle, tottenham don't think it will be a problem for them but you think it will be a problem for one of the most famous clubs in the world crazy

The expansion would probably be another 10k to 15k seats so max 60k people, I don't think that would be a problem to fill as all the corporate tickets etc on top of that as well.

Former Liverpool manager Roy Evans does not believe that the club is capable of qualifying for the Champions League next season.

The ex-Reds coach praised current Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers and his signings, but does not think that the squad is strong enough to crack the top four.

"The plan is to try to get into the Champions League, but everyone else will be spending big money as well and it will be difficult for Liverpool still. You can't change things overnight," he told talkSPORT.

"Brendan had a decent season last season, and bringing in Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho were two massive buys in January and improved them no end. I hope these new lads can improve them a bit more."

Evans went on to say that Jamie Carragher's retirement is a big loss to the club, and insisted that a sixth-place finish is "realistic".

He added: "It will be difficult with a bunch of young players. It's always difficult if you have too many young players in your side. You need a blend of youth and experience, and they've arguably lost their biggest leader in Jamie Carragher.

"I think they'll finish sixth. That won't be ideal because you want to be in the Champions League, but we have to be realistic and look where we're coming from."

I said in a thread last week that we WILL finish 6th - it's almost inconceivable that we will finish any higher or any lower. ANyone know what kind of betting odds I'd get on that? probably not great?

On current strenght of our squad this is where we should finish, above 6th would be overperforming and below underperforming by the Manager. However, we are only at the beginning of the transfer window, things might change at the end of it.
