The Liverpool boss is a big admirer of the Manchester City and England right winger and is desperately searching for pace to strengthen his squad this summer.

Wright-Phillips, 27, is very happy at Eastlands but Benitez will make discreet enquiries as to whether he could get him, even though he only returned to City from Chelsea in an £8.5m deal last summer..

Realistically I don't think we will get him, I think he'd be happy at City but obviously if they splash their cash on big players then his place will be in jeopardy.

Saying that I don't expect Rafa to go for him either, the price may be right though he's probably be at his peak age and will start losing his pace which is a big part of his game.

I'd say we should go for Lennon but he's just signed a deal for Spurs, obviously we've been linked with Silva and of course there's even Ashley Young but I don't think we would get him since Villa won't sell specially to us at a reasonable price.

I'd really prefer us to look elsewhere.

I agree, as much as we want some of those players in reality it probably won't happen. Though as good as Barry is, I really don't think we need him with Alonso playing as good as he has this season.

As long as we keep onto Alonso, Barry would really only play as a utility/backup player either on the left of midfield or at left back and only at the centre of midfield whenever Masch or Alonso are out of action. He'd be a great player as backup but that's it, I don't expect him to hold a first team place and I don't believe he would come in knowing he would play as a back up player.

But yeah back on topic, SWP is a unrealistic target in my opinion.

I think we need a better RB before getting a Winger. Arbeloa gets a lot of possession in great places, but he looks too scared to take his chances. either he improves his mentality, or we should get a better player.

How can you say Kuyt is not good enough??? The guy works his ar$e off for the entire game every game...sure he doesn't have the class or first touch of Torres, Messi, Ronaldo etc. but his value to the team is so much more than that! He causes the opposition to panic when they have the ball because he closes them down constantly and applies pressure which in turn causes turnovers, gives us possession and allows us to create chances...he has also scored a few very vital goals for us this season!!!

Don't need him. Far better options and he would be expensive cause City don't need to sell.

I don't know how you can say he is ineffective. How many important goals has he scored for us and how many has his industrious style of play set up. He is not a super star, he is a grefter and you need grafters in your team. If you had only super stars they would be getting in each others way trying to show how good they are. Kuyt is the type of player that enables the stars to shine.
