In the last 15-20 years we seem to sign just as many young players as we do senior players that would actually improve us. Far too many of these youngsters never get seen again. Is there a list somewhere of everyone we have signed in recent times? I'd love to know how much we have spent of fees & wages for players that have never seen 1st team action....

A typical youngster/punt would be about £1m? wages for 4 years would be another £1.5m at least. I'm sure that we could have been far more successful had our managers, all of them, concentrated more on the first team. Teams should only be allowed to sign over 21s from other clubs - this would give young british/local players a chance of showing what they can do and would stop clubs from stock piling 'potential' and stunting their development by not giving them proper playing experience.

Not so much as an age limit, but I have always thought that the problem with the bosman rule and with contracts nowadays is that most aren't rolling contracts. It would make much more sense to say that if a player was not selected in the clubs squad of 25, or played less than 10 or so games a season, that they should be able to move elsewhere for a nominal fee. If a player is amazing at 20, other teams should be able to sign them for a fair price.
