I think it's better to have leading brands associated with your club as its a status, all the top clubs are either Nike or Adidas, I just don't go along with the attitude of " we can wear what we like or be sponsored by who you like as long as they pay us the money " would fans be happy to be sponsored by Durex or maybe Benson and Hedges or maybe A rogue company, I know some of those might seem severe but the point I make is surely being associated with Adidas or Nike is more beneficial in status than money.
