I am a firm believer in an eye for an eye and people getting what they deserve. It's those that 'turn the other cheek' that make society in Britain what it is today - a pushover....a joke....an easy target....call it what you like but things are getting worse because of those that don't want to see justice served and are more concerned about the ludicrous human rights act than the safety of our future generations.

If someone spat on me, I would be angry, of course. If I was beaten up, I would be angry, of course. Would I retaliate? No.
I am not a violent person, but I'm not surprised by the views of some people here. Football fans already have a bad reputation for being violent thugs, you're doing the rest of us no favours. It doesn't mean your a violent person, if when all else fails you have to put someone down.
That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

Sounds like you've been reading the daily mail. I would lock up anybody who beats another person up, that's how seriously I take it, I don't find it amusing or entertaining. What exactly do you mean by 'turning the other cheek'? Does it make me a pushover because I don't think they should be beaten up in return? And if you think the human rights act is ludicrous, you're obviously misguided.

No - you obviously don't know the ins & outs of the human rights act.
It's all well and good saying that violent attackers should be locked but whay happens when they aren't? or they get ridiculously light sentences in cushy 'prisons' - where's the deterrent?
It's very ignorant to pigeon hole a person based on what newspaper you think they read. I read most newspapers but I form my own opinions based on my beliefs and experiences. Don't be such an arse.

I am a firm believer in an eye for an eye and people getting what they deserve. Who decides that though? That was my point- I'm fully behind punishing those that do wrong, but vigilantism is not the answer, that's is what the justice system is for.

My apologies, I didn't mean to pigeon hole you - sorry if it caused offence, though I'm sure you'll find you pigeon holed me first by suggested that I sound 'very christian'. It's just that your view on this subject would seem to typically reflect that represented by that newspaper.
Look, it's obvious that dealing out 'justice' is a touchy subject but that's exactly why we have the courts and a legal system in place - punishments shouldn't be dealt out by people like you or I and certainly not by a gang of thugs who go around beating people up.
Who are you to decide that El Hadji-Diouf deserved a potentially life threatening beating? And all because of your personal dislike of him.
Human rights protect us all, cases such as Abu Qatada's have certainly damaged the public's perception of the human rights act but free speech, protection from discrimination and torture and are all ideals the human rights act stands for. Just because you've never had to rely on the human rights act does not mean others don't. I'm sure you'd feel differently about it if one day it protected you or somebody in your family.

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee. ”

I do love a good debate, it's what places like this are made for, but can we close this ugly can of worms please?!

I'm all for punishment for criminals but it has to be handed down the right way and through the law. EHD has hardly been a criminal and whilst I don't agree with his spitting and racial vilifications he certainly doesn't deserve to be beaten up. If he'd murdered, raped, physically assaulted etc etc, then let the justice system deal with him but I don't think he's done anything to condone him being bashed!
