Never actually got that opinion, Istanbul would never have happened had 4th placed teams not been aloud in. There would be no Cinderella stories and the competition would be a lot shorter.

Exactly.

I still believe that there should a premier contest just for league winners, like it used to be. It's perfectly do-able as long as the 'europa league' is made better.

Agree carheex that winners of the league should be in their own competition like the good old days. But they would need to make the other competitions financially beneficial otherwise the league winners will just get richer and richer.

Anyone know how much the winners of the Europa league get?

One word MONEY

The top clubs would not allow this. They wanted to break away and form there own comp so UEFA made up this comp to keep them all happy.
