Time to get rid of the carling cup and Europa cup as teams see these as more of a hinderance due to the lack of financial reward.

I say make the top 3 league places available for champions league and the winner of the FA cup gets a champions league spot. If the winners of the fa cup are already in a top 3 league position, then 4th in the league gets the final champions league spot.

Football needs to move on and it is at the moment a bit like boxing, too many titles and most no one cares about.

You are only looking at it from the perspective of the big clubs not ALL clubs

Terrible idea! Dont you think Chelsea will celebrate tonight? Didnt you celebrate when we won the league cup last year? If these reforms were brought in Wigan would be in the CL next year, I mean comon!

Not necessarily true, if the FA cup had a CL spot at stake, I doubt Wigan would have made even the quarter finals, yet alone the final....

People moan that we can't attract the top players as we are not in the champions league but yet this way it could be a route into it. Plus would prevent a domination every year as it is rather boring having the top 4 the same every year qualifying for the champions league so they are getting richer whilst the other teams suffer.

This way it would help other teams progress.

If you don't like the idea then that is your opinion but are you the same people who wish for us to use youth in these games then moan when they don't perform and we get knocked out stating we should have played a stronger team.

I'd like to see the following:

European Cup - non-seeded and contested only by league winners
European Trophy - contested by the FA cup winners from each country and those that finish 2nd & 4rd in their league. again, non-seeded. Winner gets a place in next season's European Cup
FA Cup - no change. Winner get in to the European Trophy.

League cup - to be contested only by teams not competing in European competitions. Winner gets a place in next season's European Trophy.

Good idea Car and to even the odds and make it more interesting we could add some sort of play-offs

Only think English teams belittle European Cup. Other countries love playing it and you can tell by the crowds they pull in. We are fast becoming very snobby and we wonder why FIFA hates us.

We take the eurovision song contest more seriously it seems!
