When Dalglish left in 1991 Liverpool had plenty of opportunities to keep up with Utd but spurned them all. There is no question for me Dalglish lost the plot first time as Liverpool manager and the second coming was a farce. But he is a symptom rather than a reason we are where we are. The real reason is sucessive boards of directors and the present bunch are probaly the worst of the lot.

i agree but the start of knocking liverpool off the perch started that day at villa park , the cracks opened wide , and alex ferguson and manchester united went right through those cracks

Who's to say we would of beat united in that final anyway, our success against united in the cups wasn't the best.

liverpool would have in my opinion , crystal palace shoould have beat them , thety were not a good side , remember ferguson dropped leighton for the replay because he was so bad , but that was the start , manchester united went on to greater glory liverpool went on to very little .

Jim Leightons legs were way too bandy for a keeper imo.
