don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's not good for the club.

I'm just looking at it from a human perspective. On what basis do all these people 'scream and shout' for LFC? It's great for business, marketing etc. from the club's view, but it's madness if we look at it the other way.

The same goes for local fans even koppites who allow their moods and finances to be affected by the fortunes of the club. In the old days it could perhaps be understood, with not much else to do and the club being closer to the community. These days though, whilst the club may be physically located near the community, in all other respects it's far removed from the community and just uses the people to make a fast buck. This applies to football in general not just LFC.

Hence any kind of devotion where anyone allows the club to bleed themselves dry either financially or emotionally is just madness in my opinion.

This might be a little controversial, but when we see pictures of Malaysian, Chinese or whoever shouting and screaming LFC... and those people who live thousands of miles awvy and have LFC themed weddings, there's something very sad about that. To me it's brainwvshing... not much different to that and being a moony (if I've spelt that correctly).

Yes, people have a choice, but the fact that somehow they've lost control of their mental faculties and become mental slaves is very sad.

If they are happy with it, why should you be sad about it? Everyone has his own perspective of happiness, and as long as it doesn't interfere/disturb other peoples lives, it shouldn't be questioned in my view. My wife thinks that I am mad because of my reaction when I watch LFC, does it mean that I should be sad about this, don't think so, SP ans Faz spend a huge chunk of their income to go to games, it's their choice, so who am I to judge.
vish i do spend huge amounts of my income mate on LFC because i am low paid mate but struggle to get the £83.42 a month that will be £90 a month from july its a massive expense of my wages every month its more than the gas and electric and council tax , so it is a big outlay mate .

Vish... it's a thought, an opinion, an observation. it's a bank holiday here so don't want to get into a debate about judgement.

I acknowledged in my post that it's their choice. But I would suggest it does interfere/disturb other people's lives. all that money they spend on the club could be better spent on on their families. Society does suffer as well.

SP & Faz are smelling the coffee now. the proportion of their hard earned income going to the club is beginning to bite. In a few years time when we need our pensions and the governemnet tells us that the country's broke, we'll soon wonder why we spent all that money so that Robbie could buy up all the houses.

Totally agree with you and as you say it's their choice and they would make that choice if they are happy with it and feel it's value for money, if not they will choose otherwise.

Sorry Faz, I will never be able to understand that anybody would do something he doesn't want to continuously, yes I agree you would like to pay much less, but, if you are still going, you see the value in it, not to say it is due to the quality of the game, but for the whole experience, including going with your mates etc. To afford continuing, you must be forfeiting other things which are of less value to you. It might be like addiction, but, even drug taking can be cured. That said, fans are to some extent irrational.

answered your own question and you admit it you dont understand and unless you have gone the match like i have for so long you never will , its ok to follow a sport or a team from a far its easy , but to put your life on hold put your money into it and your undying loyalty into something what is getting taken away from you and put under massive pressure by the club you have put your heart and life into is hard to take and its not value for money and vish its more than an addiction its a way of life and every season its getting harder and harder and its not because liverpool dont win stuff because i lived with that for many many years especially in the 90's

I don't know Faz, I'd say an addiction is worse - atleast you can still watch the reds on the box or in the pubs.

Anyway, I won't be chucking my money into the club - half of me wants to get my tattoo lazer'd off the way football has morphed, it doesn't mean half as much to me now as it once did frown

Take control of your life mate, you have the choice, it is up to you and nobody else. What if the price increased by a 100 times and you have nothing close to that, would you rob a bank to go to games? Ask yourself that question.
