Hello guys,

What do you reckon? Just doing on a whim but am struggling for successes!

Tops:

1) Suarez (by a mile)
2) Coutinho (Cracking little player - goes missing sometimes but still can produce even when not on song)
3) Sterling (Decent for a real breakthrough season and his age!)

Flops:

1) Allen - No question. No doubt.
2) Skrtel - From lofty heights to binned
3) Shelvey - I really rated him last year and he looked like he was gonna push on but before and after that Man U game he was displaying proper 'chicken head' football. Shame cos there is a really good player in there.

No think Allen is a top player. How quickly some forget

Its funny how differently people perceive Henderson. Similarly young, and on the back of less than 50 appearances in the PL, people gave him a bit of a break at the end of last season and a chance to prove his worth. Allen, is being ousted by fans that have witnessed him reverse JHendersons form this season. Hendo was poor early days, and has done well for half a season. Allen was good when he came in, and has been poor the last half season. How does that make him that much of a bigger flop?

My Tops:

1. Suarez - Player of Season. Who knows where we'd be without him
2. Gerrard - Notably driven of late, vital to the teams balance
3. Enrique - Lots of effort, quality and contribution all season

My Flops:

1. Skrtel - If only because his mistakes have been most costly
2. Jones - Proven he is not worthy of being competition for GK
3. Lucas - Under-performed a few too many times this season

Notables mentions:

1. Sterling - Half a season of good raw talent on display
2. Coutinho - Has proven to be both creative and prolific
3. Downing - Has disproved many critics that he has value to a top team

I don't think the 3 flops should all be sold, but on expectation compared to value to us this season, they have vastly underperformed.

Sturridge deserves fair mention, but won't see best of him until next season. Allen and Henderson look to be good young players capable of stepping up to the plate from time to time. Shelvey may have fallen away a bit, I feel BR did the same for him as he did Raheem. Time away from games, and press to concentrate on mentality and skill-set. All 5, for me at least, have shown promise.

LOL. Opinions are pinions but I wouldn't get carried away with Allen even having a good start!

His first game was good, granted. But after that the wheels came off very, very quickly! LOL.

Agree with a out of what you say most of the time and your choices are fair enough.

Bit harsh on Jones though! He doesn't have the talent to be a true No.1 but he has done the best he could and hasn't really had any 'Mares'. None more so than Pepe anyway!

I agree with you on Reina though. Read elsewhere that you think he should be moved on and I am of like mind.

Also think Sturridge will be decent for us next season. Shame he suffered that injury as before that he was like a train!

Allen will go down as one of our worst ever, will join Andriy Voronin, Nabil El Zhar, Biscan, Diao, Ziege etc

I think Allen did well for a dozen games or so, then slowly declined. He never stunned me that he was decent, nor did I expect him to light up the place.

Squad player is just a term for players that aren't good enough to play for you that make up numbers. I like to see a 25 man squad with 22 competitive players, two in each position. You prove yourself to be a worthy starter, not 1st and 2nd choice as such.

For that reason, Jones is unlikely to play over Reina ever, and is being paid to be his back-up. If his best doesn't allow him to compete, he's not good enough?! Why not fill that place with a young player capable of getting better, than an experienced player that isn't. For that reason, I suggested selling Reina, and using the funds to but two players able to compete for the starting berth.

Fair enough on Jones. He deffo ain't good enough as First Choice.

My problem with Allen is the transfer fee. 15m around his neck could be the same as the 35m around Carroll and the 50m around Torres.

Hard to shake off after a bad start and people doubting the value in the first place.

Hopefully in time, he will get better as he is definitely better than what he has shown so far.

If you sell Reina and buy 2 goal keepers for his fee, the chance is that both will be of lower quality compared to him, and as you can play only 1 at a time, this doesn't make sense to me. Competition will not make an average player a world beater.
