i don't celebrate the death of another human being. some of the scenes on the news have been a bit tasteless. i was happy enough once she lost power and sunk into oblivion where her attitudes and policies belong and belonged. her death, to me, is pretty inconsequential. i feel sorry for her friends and loved ones though.
i don't believe 1 mins silence should be held for her. it's not a general standard that has happened for other former PMs. by making the choice to do it for her and not others, does it not belittle their contribution and aggrandise her? is that not like a club taking a political stance?
At the beginning of the week I felt the same way, but then realised it's her family that have made this a public event, it's her family that have allowed this useless tory government to spend £10million of tax payers money on her funeral whilst the country is still recovering from a recession, at a time when we're taxing the poor, unable to fund the NHS and footing
STUDENTS with the bill. Some people in this country have 2 jobs or more just to pay for the children's education or have to live in squalor because they can't afford better. Personally I have no sympathy for Thatcher's family.
I don't know if you saw footage of people 'partying' in small northern towns but they were ALL in financially deprived areas, jobless people, boarded up houses, high crime rates etc - That is Thatchers legacy.
Hillsborough aside, Margret Thatcher was a complete and utter heartless monster, a terror and void of humanity!
Anna Williams was the real iron lady!
