No problems with anyone having an opinion about any politician. Anyone who goes into politics does so with the knowledge they are there to be shot at. Whilst I admit I am an admirer of Margaret Thatcher I do accept in the industrial north, miners and the people of Ireland there are reasons why they would dislike her. I also accept she got some things wrong.
But let me explain something about Margaret Thatcher she is in fact dead.
Hold that thought in your head for now.
This is not a political thread it concerns Liverpool and the biggest event to ever hit the club by a mile the Hillsborough disaster nothing ever comes close to that. Anyone who thinks differently can’t call themselves a Liverpool, fan.
We are seeing here hearsay based on a closed doors probability and some agendas that Margaret Thatcher personally arranged the cover up or rather her government did with her collusion. After 23 years of searching for the truth there is not a scrap of evidence to support that and that was not in the conclusions of the bishop of Liverpool’s report.
Let me point to the dangers of what we are doing here.
Liverpool is a working class city in the main Labour voters and in the main hates Thatcher. Last Monday a group of people were letting off fireworks and displaying banners on the steps of lime street station.
By now promoting the hearsay (because that’s all it is) in a close knit city like Liverpool we could very soon have the notion that Maggie Thatcher caused Hillsborough in the local public’s mind. This could not happen at a worse time with the impending new hearing based on REAL evidence.
What this could do is draw away blame to Thatcher. Remember when I said to hold that thought?
Yes she is in fact DEAD.
How much easier will Duckenfield, the civil servants, the senior police and ambulance officers now rest given all the blame is being drawn to an ex premier who is now dead? Leave aside the fact there is no evidence to support this hearsay.
THINK what you are doing people at a time when we have worked for so many years and so hard to get justice here we are about to let the REAL guilty people off the hook.

load of crap....everyone knows in their gut what went on. and the smear campaign is enough proof of a cover up.
stan stop trying to dilute the real anger and justified hatred the people have of maggie . she hated them .
and its a bit insulting and patronizing to think the people of liverpool are going to be duped into accepting a scapegoat anyway. these people have worked long and hard and professionally for justice.

Something else I had not twigged. Hillsborough happened in 89 magaret thatcher left in 1990 so if she did cover it up she would only have had months to do it. And the enquiry concluded after she left. So if you are going to blame anyone with this hearsay blame John Major. All Margaret THatcher diod was listen to her advisors which any prime minster would have done. ur just coming out with this crap again try to white wash the horrible vile cow I don't think in this case he is trying to protect Thatcher as such. He is ensuring that she doesn't become the only scapegoat. It would be very easy for those who are trying to defend their positions and actions to blame it on Thatcher now, saying it was a culture she created etc etc. Thatcher might well be to blame but others need to be held accountable

Never has there been so many government cover ups than that of the Tories and inparticular Maggie Thatcher. Some big cases have been brought about from the birm 6, guildford 4, miners, MPs and child abuse all from these times. personally the colour of your politcal flag is irrelevant. These things take 20yrs so in 10 or so more I expect the Labour goverment of the late 90s to face similar accusations. The only constant in all this has been the UK police authority

crap...the lawyers and researchers working on behalf of the 96 are proper hard working professionals.
this is a lame attempt at again trying to protect his sacred leader. who when all things are considered was one of the worst people of the 20th century. worst of all, her policies and that of reagan have destroyed the 21st too.
