Anybody know anything about wiring a car stereo directly to a battery?

Just not sure what guage wire to use,i know it changes depending on the length of wire from battery to the head unit, I have a bunch of inline fuses already.

yea my mechy is on the case. he's a good dude for finding second hand stuff. might be tricky to come by but fingers crossed, will make a difference cost wise.

didnt go for it the end, sold my a6 and stuck the money in the credit union, have an astra aswell for spinning about, not sure if i have the interest in spending a few grand on a motor, maybe an old 2 litre diesel galant with their dodgy gearbox for the laugh
