If a 17 year old is voted as being in the top 10 bright stars for the future, then why sell him?

I thought there was some building going on for the future too!

actually i think the fact he was ready to leave rather than fight for his place is a good reason to sell ...... kids of 17 often have deals agreed to move them on but some choose to stay and some choose to go - ie terry @ the chavs was going to be sold but he chose to turn down the offer and fight for a chance there

still it is a shame to lose a promising youngster

Agreed, we do want the kids or any of our footballers fighting to stay and play.
However, if your employer didn't put up a little fight from their side to show they want you to stay, then what's the point in staying?

We don't know what happened behind the scenes though, so we can only speculate.

I'm just dissapointed that we sold him because I heard good things about him after the Euro Champs he was involved in.

He looked very promising though we are top of the reserve league and have some good youngsters at the club.

Surley kids need a little longer to adapt to a new country and club? Even if he didn't impress this season, the talent must be there. All he needs is nourturing and some encouragement.
