http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/f...-spending-19326Any thoughts on this particular sentence regarding his summer spending? "They have made every promise and every commitment to me that every single penny they have will go into generating the squad and making it better.

I suppose every single penny they have means any money the club can generate plus any players sold. Always thought that they want LFC to be self sustained as they do not want or cannot pour money as Chelsea and City owners.

His next line said, "we can't pour masses of money in like some other clubs". In other words, "every penny they have" amounts to very little.

What do we need? Certainly no more midfielders. Defenders may be an issue but with them all fit how many do you add to Agger Skrtel Johnson Enrique Kelly Wisdom. Maxmum of 2. Do we need more strikers? Possibly one so that we have 4 like everyone else. We have now got a decent squad. The recent games have seen us absolutely batter a few teams that we have struggled against in the past. Early days but Coutinho and Sturridge look like they should have cost twice as much. If we can keep everyone we need this looks like being a well prepared squad for next season. We have 10 games left. Next season starts now.

Some of our players are very good, but it's always an idea to replace them with better ones if possible. IE, at times Skrtel is a 'good' defender but why settle for that if we can get someone better? Same goes for any of our players - if we can replace them with better then we should, no matter who they are.

Bearing in mind that we still don't have a full squad, together with existing weakness in certain area, and In an ideal world I would say we could do with top quality new signings the following positions: 1 left full back, 2 two half backs, 1 back up goalkeeper, 1 Roy Kean type box to box midfielder with leadership ability, 1 striker if Borini comes good if not then 2 strikers. Thats 6 and possibly 7 players to put us into the CL and compete there.

But next season we won't play in CL, which means we can make do with half that amount of new players for next season and the rest before the season 2014/2015 when we hopefully enter CL again!

His next line said, "we can't pour masses of money in like some other clubs". In other words, "every penny they have" amounts to very little. In 2008-09 we finished 4 points behind Manure. Since then we have spent £72 million MORE than them on players and they have also lost the best player in the world during that period. We're now about 400 points behind them. Now admittedly they've not got a bad manager, but it's still some pretty scary numbers. However, it does also show our failure to compete is not down to transfer funds...
