Gerrard single handily carried the teams for years and got us win and results we shouldn't have achieved.
if that doesn't make a legend I don't know what will ofcorse he did, nobody is disputing what he has done for the Club as he has been immense, what I am saying is there are players who have contributed the same if not more securing greater glories and are not considered as high as Gerrard in the legend stakes. Look I thought Robbie Fowler was a Better goalscorer than Ian Rush, he could score every type of goal and scored some really important goals for us but in Legend stakes he doesn't come close to Rushie because Rushie scored us goals which won us Leagues and European Cups that's why Fowler as much as I rated him doesn't come close to true legend status even tho he was a special player, this is what I am trying to explain, what you win defines you and I don't just mean appearing and winning, I mean winning something and making a direct contribution to winning... i dont think that is true at all and with that mind set most clubs in the country would be unable to call any of their past players legends because as a team they havent won anything. Surely its as much, if not more the players contribution rather than what the team has won and if that means a player has dragged a team far and above what was expected then more power to that individual. Gerrard to me embodies what a club legend is, end of! With regards to Suarez, he is brilliant in terms of talent, work ethics and commitment to getting results. He has been at the club during a particularly difficult period but has still shone. Even now he has to be considered as one of the best players this club has had over the last 20 or 30 years and if we can keep him I think he has all the attributes to become an LFC great

Was Matthew Le Tissier a legend at Southampton?

Was Matthew Le Tissier a legend at Southampton? there is a difference between a Legend and cult hero, I think Le Tiss was a cult hero, fantastic player and ability wise probably the best player ever to pull on a shirt, but was he a Legend like Bobby Stokes who scored the winner against United in the F.A Cup Final there only ever cup win in there history, or maybe Kevin Keegan who is a cult hero for Newcastle after two seasons playing for them. I think Carragher is a cult hero, so was Joey Jones, Torres and Michael Owen all players who just fell a little bit short by not achieving and being special enough doing it but none the less really, really popular amongst fans...

I think this is solely your take on what makes a club legend rather than what a majority would probably think. I think you would find it hard to uncover a Sothampton fan that didnt class Le Tissier as a club legend.

That's the nail on the head - it's just his opinion...

Is Alan Shearer (the league top scorer of all time) not a premier league legend? After all, he won sod all. And what about the likes of park ji sung, wes brown and phil neville? they've won far more than the whole Liverpool squad but that doesn's make them legends.
To say a player is only a legend based on what he has won doesn't really work.

Le Tiss is a Southampton legend, Shearer a Newcastle legend, both unbelievable players and legends of the premier league, whether they fit what your idea of a legend is completely irrelevant, coolflames, as whether you like it or not these guys are legends. Your opinion wont change that and certainly wont change what standards other fans set for legends. Your point about winning things is very valid though but in a different context, Gerrard, Carragher, Shearer, Le Tiss, Ginola, Di Canio etc - All legendary . so would you say players like Chris Lawler, Gerry Byrne or Ron Yeats are all on the same legend footing like Carragher and Gerrard taking into consideration they all received testimonials for serving the Club so well...
