After 50 votes, some interesting observations:

- only 4% think failing to qualify for the CL should cost BR his job. So either we didn't expect it from the outset or perhaps expectation has been driven out of our minds by poor/inconsistent performances and/or management/ownership propoganda.

- less than half of us believe that failing to improve on last season is necessary for BR to survive. And that's depite it being only Feb and having no other competition to distract us.

- almost 70% believe he should go if we don't finish in the top half. That's as conclusive as it gets in terms of a common viewpoint, but I guess it's an unlikely scenario.

- a surprising 32% think that whatever happens, if we finish say 16th or even get relegated, BR should stay.

Interim Conclusions

Most of us would like BR to stay on unless things get really bad, i.e. even if we carry on as we have been and show no further improvement.

We don't have an appetite to chop and change again. Perhaps we're sick of how often it's happened recently; or perhaps we agree (or have swallowed the propoganda?) that 'the squad is poor and it'll take time whoever's in charge'.

Whatever the reason, our expectations have plummetted since sacking Rafa for failing to qualify for the CL despite his proven abilities in previous 5 consecutive seasons, and also since sacking Kenny after he finished 8th, reached two finals and won a trophy in his first full season back.

I suppose the next question would be, what would we expect from BR next season? Would we give him the whole season again or would we have some interim targets in mind that he must achieve in order to keep his job say into the Jan 2014 transfer window?

Fair summary - but remember there was a fair few of us who didn't vote as none of the choices agreed.

I've more than had my say on this thread - I'm not a BR lover (lol) but I see enough positives, enough improvements on previous seasons / managers to bare with for the meantime.

One thing springs to mind though, I always used to look at spurs and was bemused with the way they would chop and change managers (still can't understand getting rid of Harry - love him or hate him)

Stability goes a long way (look at Chelsea for all the Millions spent) Spurs chopped and changed year after year even though they always had a class squad, it wasn't until Jol got a decent run, then Harry (forget the interim - hahaaaa... like we all haven't already)

What I'm getting at, is it's best to stick with what we have until we're not seeing signs of improvement anymore - we're at about Ged's level right now in all honesty.

Sacking BR in the summer would only put us back another year or two - new manager, new signings, new style....

Don't know about you guys, but I don't fancy replicating Tottenham of the 90's..

*Sorry, next season I'd expect nothing less than a top 4 challenge - serious top 4 challenge.

more like manchester city of the 70's and 80's into the 90's , fans demanding a new board and a new manager every week .

Couldn't see too many other choices to add without listing each league position. From your comments, if not seeing further signs of improvements is the yardstick, then I woul've thought vote would be either failing to finish top half or failing to avoid relegation. Both of these end results couldn't surely be compatible with further signs of imrovement?

Totally agree about the fear of the type of instability you've referred to.

Fair play Faz.

Shows how divided we all are - half of us will suffice with the devil at hand - the other half want to stick it all on black, win or lose.

I was tempted to click "failure to avoid religation" for a giggle (hell of a mis-type laugh )

liverpool are going to finish exactly were i thought liverpool would finish between 6th and 9th likely to be 7th , ok the cup runs were not good poor in fact , but if i remember most koptalkers were very happy with rodgers resting players in europe and the league cup , the oldham game was just a dire performance by players who should hjave been good enough to get at least a reply against oldham , but the football has been better to watch scored well more goals won more at anfield than last season in the league , now ok its not been great and if he get the sack he get the sack but its been ok not brilliant and not rubbish in my opinion .

Do you think we'll improve next season though - see us in the same position or fall backwards???

I know this is speculating - but do you think we'll be lucky to equal this seasons feats, better it or fall off the map???

Take the signing of Sturridge into account - he'll be there for 90% of next seasons matches (hopefully)

Kenny's problem was the results, not the style of play.

Hang on, so we've gotten worse in your eyes???
(sorry, missed that first time 'round)

Cool, we're good.

The defence definitely has gotten worse.

Massively agree - but given the context of the comment, we're therefore worse on a whole.

Defence worse but we now have an on form Suarez and also Sturridge.
