Well that was an awful result last night.
WHAT A TEAM OF BOTTLERS.....
With the exception of Reina, Carra, Lucas and Henderson, I think the rest just simply bottled it.
When we can make a serious challenge on the teams above us we completely bottle it and bring out a performance like that. Shambolic
We could have closed the gap on Everton to just 3 points, and kept the pressure on Arsenal and Tottenham.
As soon as the media and pundits start to talk about us climbing the table and hitting the heights of the top 4 then we crumble.
It was all positive before the game, we had got through two hard fixtures without loosing and looking like a top side. We had a battling performance at arsenal, ok we lost a two goal lead, but we played well to get the two goal lead, then outplayed City for the majority of that game. All was looking like we had turned the corner.
We can't handle praise and expectation, and thats why i think we are bottlers. If there was nothing riding on last nights game we would have won comfortably, absolute shambles.
Dont get me wrong, i think we controlled the majority of last nights match, but we had no idea what to do with the ball in the final third of the pitch, we gave it away too easily, even short 5 yard passes were going astray, we would win the ball back then pass it straight to an opposing player. When we lost the ball the majority of the team would not put the effort in to win it back, the number of times Gerrard lost the ball then strolled around, instead of busting a gut to win it back. Henderson has had his critics from day one, but when he lost it he was running and chasing trying to win it back.
The team selection from Rodgers was a bit strange, why replace Sturridge with Shelvey, why not at least keep with the two up front and play borini or even sterling, we look better with two strikers on the pitch, plus more pace up front has worked for us.
I think Rodgers did get it wrong and got it wrong with his subs as well, they were at the wrong time and he changed the wrong players, henderson should of stayed on longer, shelvey should have gone first, may be took off Lucas who is defensive and brought on a more attacking threat.
Team Rating:
Reina = 7 (Had a good game made a cracking save) Johnson = 4 (Poor, in fact, P!SS POOR) Agger = 5 (Marking was poor, especially from cornerrs) Carra = 7 (Solid, and ran the back line as usual) Enrique = 5 (Very Poor, not P!SS Poor, just very poor) Lucas = 6 (Ok performance, got stuck in, and won the ball, his distribution was not the best.) Gerrard = 5 (Not one of his better games, missed placed passes, and well he missed a penalty, very poor) Henderson = 6 (Ok performance, not as good as his previous 3 or 4 games, but looked like he was trying) Shelvey 4 = (Awful, passing was off, headless chicken) Downing 5 = (First half played well, then went missing in the second half, didnt know what to do with in the final third) Suarez 6 = (ran around and put some effort in, but couldnt shoot, and started going to ground too easily again when things were going against us) Borini 2 = (apparently he cam on !!!!!) Sterling 5 = (Made no impact at all) Coutinho 4 = (Came on for little amount of time, and had no chance of making an impact)
I spoke to a work colleague (LFC Fan) this morning, and his first words were "WE ARE SH!T", personally I dont think we are sh!t, i just think we are bottlers.
I rate Rodgers, and I am backing still, i like the way he wants to play the game, but it is going to take time, and since 2009, we have taken a fair few steps backwards. I think if he is given the backing by the Owners and can bring in the player he wants then he will succeed.
Feels good to rant get that out of my system. Apologies if I have annoyed or bored anyone.
Good day to you all, lets look forward to Thursday game.... OH DEAR!!

Feel sorry for you as nobody had responded. lol
anyway lots of good points made, have to say though labelling Shelvey as a headless Chicken last night would be an insult to a headless Chicken. The boy was like a sloth, never seen a player given a chance to impress and get back on track look so uninterested. In fact he looked like he had been enjoying his time on the sidelines so much he couldn`t wait to get taken off and go back there. Didn`t do well enough to hit a [oops] poor rating

Ha, nice post Matt.
Yeah thought i might of had more replies, but i posted really to get my frustrations out, these forum's are like Therapy.. haha
Your right Shelvey is failing and will be moved on in summer, cos he is just not the play for this system.
Thanks for your post, agreed with your points made

i wasnt disappointed by the result, i wasnt even surprised as its come to be expected.
i was angry, im still angry,
After a whopping 2 points from 2 games BR comes out with his usual crap about how we are still in the hunt for 4th (can everyone jus knock that on the head now? not gonna happen, not this year or next year)
the line up?
was shelvey up front? Suarez looked to sacked off to the left hand side to make room for Shelvey up front.
ive never know a midfielder to be offside so many times.
Jonno and enrique need nothing said about them
the worst games ive ever seen them have.
jonno couldnt take on anyone, enrique had 4 ATTEMPTS at passing a ball in the space of 90 secs. not one reached a red shirt.
lucas, non existent.
hendo looked ok, nothing more. (he went off at 0-0 is the best he will get from me)
Downing was our best player, says it all.
agger at fault again. both goals came through the worst marking ever seen at anfield.
reina - last seen runnning towards a corner flag at the ethihad.
has all the attributes of a keeper wanting to be sold. stays on his line when a corner comes in. then lets shots go through him. pure and utter sh!t
i was always told, "if it doesnt hurt when you lose, youre not really a supporter"
well this proves i am still a massive supporter becuase i am still sore.
just sh!t ....all of them

The other night when England played Brazil, I noticed that when Brazil had just equalised and then Cahill lost the ball and Fred hit the bar Gerrard who was captain was clapping his hands and saying "come on lads" whereas Rooney sprinted 45 yds to scream "sort your f*cking lives out, what the fu*k is going on back here" that to me is the biggest difference between LFC and Man Utd at the minute.I think its down to the manager to buy players with that passion and instill that mentality.

Yes, the gutted feeling doesn't go away until your next game starts. Its painful to see us in this league position.
We need to look to the next game, and all the players need to give something back to the fans from now till the end of the season, try and bring back pride to our amazing club.

I wish our players and manager had the drive, hungry, of the Celtic manager and their players, based on last nights performance
They lost, but they never gave up.

They lost, but they never gave up. ive had enough of tryers like Kuyt Borini etc, i want a team of cocky confident players who dont cry when they get near an opposition area.
