Any old timers remember the paddock? It was a thin strip standing area pitchsde of the main stand. It was a great view and you could stand near the manager. Used to be my favourite spot plus you were safe in the days of hooliganism unless you stood near the anny road in which case you took your life in your hands. It never gets a mention in Liverpool folklore but for me happy memories when I was about 14 and went to the games in the days when fights would break out in the crowd and I wanted to be safe. When I got older went in the kop but I always loved the paddock I saw the 5 nil defeat of forest there in 88. One of the last years before it went all seater and became absorbed into the main stand.
yes stanley I have stood in the old paddock for games, I even used to stand in it when going to watch the reserve games. I can even remember the first game I sat in the paddock the season it was seated, it was in 1980, we played Aberdeen the Champions of Scotland in the old European Cup, we played them away in the first leg winning the game 1-0 with a delicate little chip from Terry Mac, the second leg at home was bonfire night November 5th 1980 and was not such a tight affair, a Willie Miller own goal set us on the way to an impressive 4-0 win, a certain manager than night never, ever forgive us and vowed to pay us back for humiliating his team, the name of the manager, yes you've guessed it Alex Ferguson...
Just a little story of my memories of the Paddock.
