I'm gonna quote George Carlin..." Never argue with an idiot, they'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience"....
I just choose not to speak to him anymore, I suggest you do the same Maxi...Sooner or later he'll get bored.

I'm a 35 y/o that's supported Lfc for the past 25 years. I don't live in liverpool I live in the south west (bristol) I do get to games when I can (twice a year min) I subscribe to liverpool tv and buy the shirts. I've also been to a worthington cup final vs Birmingham. I'd like to think of myself as a passionate fan. But for some people this will never be enough as I didn't grow up in liverpool. I don't care what these people think because I know what the club means to me. YNWA For me you are a true red because you live in Bristol you can't go to every game that's fair enough but you do what you can so no issues with your situation. But someone who contributes nothing financially ever but supports the club is fine and welcome but you cannot be helping the club financially by definition and if all fans were like that the club would cease to exist within weeks. That's not to have a go at anyone it's just self evident.

SP, keep in mind though that by that logic, if the club didn't have armchair fans watching on tv they would have no tv income either, no advertising income etc and would also cease to exist. Match going supporters alone are not enough to keep the club going in the modern world.

I think the reasons why people support Clubs Like United and Liverpool is one of the reason which some people can't get there heads around. To pick a Club just because its successful or famous for a lot of people is the wrong reason to support a Club as anyone can do that and if everyone done it then football would finish because nobody would support the smaller less famous Clubs. What makes a person who say lives in Brighton who has no ties whatsoever with Liverpool or Manchester turn there backs on there home Town or City and go and pick the Club of another place when they have a perfectly good club on there own doorstep which they can actively go out and support every other week, can a Somebody explain this to me as I just can't get my head around supporting a club you can't go and watch yourself, this is an honest question and not a digg at anyone... So what's your point Coolflames? Only Merseysiders should support LFC? I suppose you feel that it would be better for LFC if only Merseysiders were allowed to support LFC, right?

Imagine the kop empty would you like to watch that on your tv? I am not having a go at you and I hope you enjoyed your trip to Liverpool and yes you are a real fan going to that trouble to see Liverpool. But do you understand the game is in trouble the regular match going fans are being forced out of the game. Who will replace them?

Vish he is off his head Liverpool have always had supporters from around the north west of engand even in the 1930,s my grandad was one he lived 30 miles away from merseyside I know Stan, I was just curious to find out if there is actually anything in an empty mind. I live thousands of miles away from England, in fact it's a 12 hrs flight and 800 quids to get to London, so I believe a 1000 quids to get to Liverpool and back, a bit more if i have to go and watch a game including accomodation. Of course I cannot go to the games and the only way I can spend on LFC is by buying shirts. In any case, I have enough self esteem to not give a [oops] when anybody would tell me that I am not a fan or a lesser one, I know what I am and that's enough for me.

I fully understand your point, I agree there is definitely a need for match going fans and that there are fewer and fewer of those. It's people like a certain "someone" I prefer not mention, who claim that because you are not from merseyside you are not a real fan, that irritate me. You understand. It's ridiculous.
