Rodgers picked the side and formation, he also failed to change it when it was blatantly obvious it wasn`t working. He also failed to rally the troop at halftime as if anything we were even worse especially the first 10 mins after the break. We should have come out all guns firing but instead it was weak and sloppy. For all of that I find it difficult to pick any player that played well last night. Reina had to do very little but still failed to come for the corner which was headed in from 4 yards. Enrique,Johnson,Agger were awful. Shelvey and Borini couldn`t make awful.! Lucas and Gerrard did very little going forward and less going backwards, in the first 10 mins after halftime they let players in on goal without chasing back 3 or 4 times. Downing was ok, Henderson our best player last night got took off when he should have changed position and Saurez must have spent the night wondering what the hell was going on? quiet night for him but he didn`t have much help. For a squad saying we think we can get fourth it was an absolute joke, gutless and filled with so many errors, Gerrard looked like he didn`t want to take the penalty, no wonder he missed.

I'm not so sure a 'clear out' is necessary. Look at Downing and Henderson- Fair enough they still have the bad game here and there, but on the whole, they've greatly improved and i'd be happy to keep them in the squad.
What we need is numbers. More players = more competition and the ability to rest key players without the worry of the replacement not being good enough. Then you will be able to weed out those not fit to play for us. Our squad is still thread-bare and so in a lot of cases we don't have the opportunity to drop players' loan them out.

We are in desperate need of a couple of big, tough defensive type players.
We need competition for Lucas, I say go for Diame, even if it means tapping him up a little, we could of had him for free, and it was all set up, but like the last few seasons, we ballsed it up.
We also need a couple of centre backs, that can deal with crosses. And can handle a bit of pressure. Even Agger is struggling now. But to be fair, he needs a tough man, like Carra was a few seasons ago, to get into it, while he clears the mess.
Left back. Enrique will play better with competition, and someone who will stop attacks coming from that side, both goals came from that side.
Another Striker. Sturridge was out, and it showed. If he had played, I believe we would have scored and probably won. Rodgers didn't even put Boroni in, to fill his spot, which can't be good for his confidence. Instead, old Shelvey went in, and didn't do too well. I still have hope for Boroni, he was decent in Italy, but hasn't been able to find his feet yet, but he's got age on his side.
Creative mid. Need someone to challenge Coutinho, Man, I hope there is some truth to the Eriksson rumours, go all out for the guy.
FSG need to pay up, otherwise we're going to continue growing at snails pace, and by the time our decent players start getting good, they will be sick of waiting and will leave. Stop messing around FSG. I agree Pops, I've been going on about our dodgy defense for years, all you have to do is run at them and they crumble. but our mid field is easily overun and bullied as well, and unless Suarez scores who else will? Last night Clarke put two men on him and also cut off supply to him for much of the match. In my view Clarke won the tactical battle hands down.

I'm tending to not lump all the blame on Rodgers. While he was a bit of a dip to choose Shelvey to play, the players need to take a look in the mirror and ask themselves why that can't get their shot on target, especially when they practice doing it every day.
I'm a drummer, my Job when I'm in a studio, or playing live is to play what has been ask of me, or what I know how to play, and I very rarely mess up, and if I do, it will be a circumstances like breaking or dropping a stick. But if I was paid as much as these players to play drums, I would make sure that I could do what I rehearsed to do. I know it's a different context, but why can't they do what they are trained to do?
I will give Rodgers till next year, but the clear out of all our [oops] players has got to start from now. It's finally hit me how bad they are. Clear out to bring the likes of Borini, Allen, Assaidi, Yesil (even when he was not injured) is not going to help much, is it? We'll have too many players warming the bench.

defeat to swansea wil be the last straw for me i think. he has had his window and numerous chances to kick on and make progress with the team early, but he keeps blowing those chances. thats a very worrying sign in a manager, look at all these other managers coming into piddly clubs and achieving above and beyond.
rodgers not a top 4 manager, seems he never will be.

People talk about us needing numbers, last night we had Coutinho, Allen, Borini and Sterling on the bench and Sturridge wasn't even in the squad, is this not enough numbers? After all we cant have any more than 4 attacking players on the pitch if u add the 2 defensive options and the back up goalie, please stop making excuses and just admit were not good enough and haven't been all season. A couple mis leading performances at City and Arse doesn't change that.

i dont believe for one single second that our squad is lacking. we have easily enough quality and numbers to put in a match winning performance in most games, christ we saw it against arse and city, and yet its our ability to implode that does us in.

I agree, i think its down to ability, when DS is back we'll have to drop one of Allen, Sterling, Coutinho or Borini from the bench, surely we have enough numbers now. I'm so p!ssed off still so many bad decisions.

rodgers not a top 4 manager, seems he never will be. A month back I would have argued with that and that he needs time. He's had that and his own transfers in so there are no more excuses. I'm not sure about replacing him before the season finishes but that's another debate.
