this has been taken from SSN

Jonjo Shelvey feels as though he has been made a scapegoat for Liverpool's poor showing at Stoke City on Boxing Day.

The 20-year-old midfielder concedes that he was a long way short of his best during a disappointing 3-1 defeat at the Britannia Stadium.

Shelvey had, however, impressed up until that point, making 14 appearances under Brendan Rodgers and earning senior international recognition with England during a World Cup qualifier against San Marino in October.

He has, however, found himself out of favour since Christmas - making just two FA Cup appearances.

Shelvey is prepared to knuckle down and fight his way back into Liverpool's starting XI, but believes he can consider himself unfortunate to have been cast aside so suddenly.

Ahead of an outing for England's U21 side against Sweden on Tuesday, he said in The Independent: "I played against Stoke and obviously I didn't have too great a game.

"I had a few personal issues that were going on in my life. I didn't think I was the only one that had a bad game that day but I was the one that suffered, if you know what I mean.

"You just have to take it on the chin and work hard in training and try to get myself back in the team, which I'm trying to do."

i dont see why we should be changing a side that is doing well. i was really pleased to see him in the side at the start of the season but the players ahead of him are doing better, he needs to shut up and train hard, it worked for Hendo, not once did hendo come out with this cr@p

Should we sell him for speaking out?
I`m pleased he`s unhappy about being out of the team , how many would be happy to sit on the bench and collect their large wages.

I think you've bitten at an absurdly exaggerated headline here.

He never even mentioned feeling like a scapegoat and actually goes on to say;

"You just have to take it on the chin and work hard in training and try to get myself back in the team, which I'm trying to do."

What more would you want from him?

Overreaction in my opinion.

"he needs to shut up and train hard, it worked for Hendo" - I'd call that an overreaction.

He should be tarred and feathered, and paraded around the streets of L4 on a leash.
