They have been tinkering with it since european football started. The last 'project' was to merge europa with CL seeing as the CL has been devalued by including teams that have never one their own championship into it , its not such a bad idea
The old system with the cup winners cup seemed like a great idea
Come to think of it, if it wasnt for the money from TV, they wouldnt have changed the CL at all. It was much easier and much more enjoyable for the avearge (neutral) fan to watch.
I dont think other european FA cup equivalents have the same prestige as our FA cup so the c up winners cup wasnt such a hit. It was a great idea . You had the really battling teams in it and the cream of the best teams in the CL as only the winner of the domestic league would be in it.
CL bores me to be honest its not like a marathon yet it has home and away boring legs. Hard to watch if your own team is not in it. STill if your team is in it, winningthe CL lets you buy the top players thats what makes it hard to criticise
