Well for starters we were still in the league cup at tho stage last season. Having said that we are playing prettier and more effective football now. As to whether he is getting the best out of the players we have, that is very debatable in my opinion. I am starting to respect him a bit more as a manager but he still has a long way to go to prove he is good enough...i will support him though.

i think that's more to do with sterling seeing 1 -usually 2- players right on top of him who are much bigger than him. i do remember rodgers telling him to stop the fancy sh!t against city at half time. so maybe there is something in what you say.
yea i agree i think its a bit of both. i reckon his probably not as confident now as he was when he first got into the team. i would still like to see him using his pace to get at defenders. without using his pace and dribbling ability he doesnt offer anything to the team.

There maybe a reason he is rotating players and giving more priority to our league position cool, he's perfectly aware that even 2 cup wins wouldn't save him. Kenny anyone?

With that in mind I would do the same. With the quality now of at least the first 8 clubs, if it meant we finished 5 th and went out the cups in the next round I'd take it all day. That would mean progress in every way and would be quite a feat with a wafer thin squad and FSG at the helm.

I could actually look forward to the start of next season with some stability and a base to build on in this team.

The one thing we were doing better was our defense I think, but that has improved a lot recently. We're certainly scoring more, and he has gotten more out of Stevie, Suarez, Henderson, Downing, Johnson, Enrique, and Shelvy. We were also in the running for the league cup but I think Europa is a better competition to be in for.

The one thing i liked last season was the Cup runs and at least winning something. As the season is not over and we are still in 2 "bigger" cup competitions, we could potentially end up better than last year. Rogers has however improved over his start of the season.

Some short memories here today. Apparently, a lot of people were happy to overlook kenny's poor results last season because he had us playing such great football - only 'luck' was letting us down.
The team might be playing better than earlier in the season but we're still no better than last year.

I'm not sure that's accurate. We're currently higher than we placed last year, and we have already scored almost as many goals this year as we did at the end of last season. Pepe is doing better along with many key players.

Nah, we were 6th this time last year. Have a look at page 4 of this thread - I've put comparisons based on points, position and goal difference for each of the last 4 season. Both kenny and rafa were doing better at this stage - and they both got sacked!!!

I said goals scored, not gd, but I understand your point. However, With both Rafa and Kenny (especially Kenny) things just got worse as the season went on. This season, we seem to be improving as the season progresses. Again, we don't know til the end of the season, but I think we will be better off than we were at the end of both of those.
