i might be wrong but i think this award is only ever given to english players, gerrard was the stand out performer in the euros, he's england captain. and he has been brilliant in the most part this season.

i think joe hart would've been a better choice he was outstanding last season and was brilliant at the euros on and off the pitch.

True that, I always forget about the goalkeepers. Hart is class.

Van Persie won it last year. Ronaldo has won it twice, Pires, Henry, Bergkamp, Zola, Cantona, Klinsmann...have all won it.

Hart is good but has been very embarrasing in europe and not much better for england. I'm still unconvinced about his 'greatness'.

Me too,he's good but he's never gonna be up there with the Peter Schmeichel's and lumba's of the world.

That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

then i have no idea why gerrard won the award. RVP only choice for it.

hart's potential 'greatness' is debatable, but he is very good. in his defence mancini has decided to forget how to manage a football team this season. bringing in a 19 year old in place of a good/solid/experienced lescott who seemed to have a good relationship with kompany. and playing 3 at the back, and then changing in game over and over again, in europe especially. not good for hart.

Ah, the original articel was suggesting that it was a repeat of the award he won in 2009. Upon further investigating, it seems that he won the FWA "tribute" award for services to football. Not necessarily anything to do with his 100 caps though.

that makes a lot more sense and he is deserving of it no doubt. It was a very poorly worded article and did make it look like he had won it
