Rubbish - if it was about the money he'd have stayed where he was. Our offer was more or less the same as Gala's....but only after we offered him less than we're paying the likes of downing, henderson and carroll and other players not fit to clean Sneijder's boots. We've got no ambition other than to reduces FSG's overheads.
For a club of supposedly large stature, LFC look like d!cks trying to get a £200k pw player for a 1/3 of that, especially with a low transfer fee involved.
liverpool would never have offered him more than what gerrard gets about 130-140 K and he was on more than that at inter , plus are gala and the turkish league really a bigger pull ? only if the wages were massive

has he actually signed for anyone yet?
at the end of the day we've made a move for him. we've offered him a very good deal. nothing to be bitter about if he's decided not to join us. no point in offering him a silly contract, would just cause unrest amongst the squad and would hammer our wage bill and with his age he could end up like another joe cole in a few years.
think we'll continue look to bring the right players in but only under the right circumstances. if we have to wait until the summer then so be it.

sneijder choose gala because of money and it seems it came down to the tax systems. we would have to offer him about 210k a week for him to have the same salary after tax. not worth it. great player but clearly he didn't want the challenge of the PL at this stage of career. definitely don't need players like him. talented or not.
