I did some digging on the last squad we had that got us into the top 4. And it's quite interesting to see just how much we have gone down hill.

We seem to have got rid of most of the experience and quality from our squad.

And here's a look at our squad this season. I will highlight all the inexperienced players in our squad, and the players that aren't good enough yet.

We just don't have the Quality. We are going for young players that aren't ready, and they are going to lose their confidence because I I don't think that they have enough quality players beside them.

In 2008/09 Our weakest link that was getting first team experience was Arbeloa, and he's hardly bad. We need to be going for older more experienced players, so that the young guys can build their confidence. And if we're going for young guys, get ones that stand out, not Hendo or Boroni. I don't have anything against these guys but I fear that they aren't getting the best education.

Great post and just shows how far we have fallen off and how far we have stripped our squad down to crumbs basically compared to the other top teams. The most recent example is letting Kuyt, Maxi and Bellamy go at one go, all were experienced players who knew how to win games but hey lets replace them with Shelvey and Hendersen. Disappointing and frustrating.

oh god yea i agree but overated players on big wages was killing us. Lets face it nobody wants to see cole,keane,aquilani who you missed off and the likes of 1 game a week bellamy(mystery) on big money. Maxi wanted to leave and so did Kuyt. Brendan wanted both them two stay.

and also lets not forget that the glaziers owe hundreads of millions still to the banks. im sure they pay a bit off as they go. Couple of bad seasons, theyll be in the [oops]. When fergie goes that debt better be gone aswell.

Just shows that we need more quality and experience in attack.

If we got a player like Sneijder (example), then even if he doesn't always light the world up, he can still lead by example alongside the more up and coming players.

In attack at the moment we only have Suarez and Gerrard who are really decent. Lucas isn't on form, neither is Allen, plus he's not experienced enough yet. Downing while plying better is not good enough to win us games.

We've got some young guys full of potential, that need players to look up to more. Sterling, Henderson, Suso, Shelvey and even Allen to an extent need players that make them improve.

Back in 09/10 season Skrtel and Agger were still fairly young and they had Hyypia and Carra to learn from and improve. Lucas had Mach, Gerrard and Alonso. Ngog even had Kuyt and Torres.

We need some real quality in my opinion, to make the team better immediately and to improve the younger players.

id love snieder pops but fsg wont sanction the wages

it would go a long way as to restoring faith in them if they made the deal happen

We need a dirty def mid like masch used to be someone who puts a foot in. tiote perhaps?

And an exciting midfielder like sneijder but we wont buy these players

I don't think we need a def mid apart from one as cover. We do need a creator though like Sneijder or Eriksen.

We certainly need experience. I've always thought the buy young and cheap with a good resale value policy was [oops]. According to that, RVP wasn't worth £24m! Bonkers!

I'm also glad that Gerrard has eluded to the fact it's a [oops] policy and Rodgers has also said we need more experience. Lets hope FSG take on board what they say.

Our defense is the only area with a bit of experience. Gerrard is a winner, and Lucas can be but has been away for a while. But then you get players like Downing, who has experience, but just isn't good enough. On top of that we have Suarez who might not have the experience of someone like RVP, but is just plain talented.

Who else in the team falls into the experienced catagory? Or the great talent?
