I didn't really understand the subs he made today. He left Sterling and Allen out to give them a rest, then still brought them on even though the game was wrapped up. Why not have rested them for the whole game?

Subs I would have liked to have seen:

Johnson > Wisdom - been a while since Wisdom got game time, and Johnson has played a lot this season, would have been good if he could have had a bit of rest.

Agger > Coates - With Aggers injury record, at 3-0 I would have taken the opportunity to take him off an give Coates some game time, if he's going to be our future centre back he should be getting some experience ahead of Carragher.

Gerrard > Sahin - Gerrards not as young as he used to be, and could do with being saved as much as possible for when we need him. Plus I would have liked to see Sahin given a try in a more attacking role.

What difference does it make? keeping a clean sheet was important so why change the back 4 for the sake of giving someone 10-15 minutes on the pitch. Fresh legs in the mid-field was more important, maintaining the sharpness so we continued to close down well and keep pressure on them when they had the ball.

Well he changed the back 4 anyway by bringing Carragher on. I just think it would have been better to have given Coates that game time.

Carra replaced Lucas, sitting infront of the back 4 as DM. Fair point, I agree with regards to Sahin, doesn't cut it in DM, but I think going forward + creating is his strength anyway, going by his time at Borussia Dortmund.

BRs afraid of a hushed silence at anfield if he takes SG off. Hard to blame him, all managers would struggle to drop him but BRs afraid to even sub him. Better performance from SG today.Fulham left a big hole in midfield.
Allen & Gerard don't go together in same team.
Shelvey pretty poor today.
The rest were 'outstanding'.
Downing may well have benefited from the spell at LB, he looks like a player who does not want to be played at LB today.
If so good man /mouse management by BR

Just a shame that Yesil or Morgan wasn't on the bench IMO. Would have been the perfect game to have given them 20-30 minutes to see what they could do

Shockingly, Downing was MOTM for me to day. Beautiful assist for Gerrard's goal and a cracking goal himself. He took several dangerous looking shots today, and I'm glad one found the net. His runs and his passing were really good. If he'd have been playing like that since the time we bought him, he might have been worth that 20 million. Doubt it will continue, but he had a great game. Gerrard and Skyrtel were great as well as Enrique. Great result, lads.

Shelvey was rightfully replaced, he was having some problem with his leg, that's what Allen replaced him. Suso looked exhausted because he hasn't played a lot and Lucas has just come back from injury. Not bad subs.
