when you take over a new company your sheer presence does not change everything overnight unless the spirit was bad. Under Roy it was bad hence the change in results under Kenny, under Kenny not so, hence the not so dramatic change under BR.

City have spent nearly 600million over 5yrs and are still wobbling week to week. Yet Rodgers has one window to sort out playing style, exits and new recruits. It's not going to happen OVERNIGHT and we all knew that. The fact there has been some sort of progress is good. The team has had a very poor 2012 in the league but Rodgers has won more games and got more points than Kenny did.

we can either bail out again or just hang in there and see where we go. Alot to play for and one bad result neither confirms our freefall(carheex) as much as one win doesn't mark our meteoric rise either

No one is expecting BR to propel us back to the top 4 overnight. But a good manager should be able to improve results very quickly, especially if he is given £30m to spend.

You talk about progress but I don't see any. And you need to recheck your comparison with Dalglish: Kenny's first 17 games of the season yielded 30 points and has us in 5th place. Brendans first 17 games have yielded 22 points and have us sat in 12th place. I don't see how that is 'progression'.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on why laudrup, pulis, allardyce, hughton & clarke are all above us despite having inferior players and less money to spend. How have laudrup, hughton & clarke joined new clubs and managed to improve their team's results very quickly? Maybe it's because they are good managers and Brendan isn't...?

What do you propose we do now then, CarheeX?

Stop making excuses for BR would be a start.

He is our manager, I see him being our manager for the forseeable future. I agree with CarheeX that his results have been poor with the squad we have but don't see it being entirely his fault. We've seen no success from sacking managers if things aren't going the way us as fans want them to.

Yes we have. Evans's results were poor, we sacked him and then houllier won the UEFA cup. Houllier's results then went downhill so we sacked him.....next thing we know we're champions of europe and the best club side in the world. Hodgson's results were poor so we sacked him and won the league cup. No point in sticking with a manager if he's no good.

Time doesn't deliver success - a good manager does.

and what if a good manager needs time to implement things?

I meant in recent times, finishing 8th and winning the COC didn't really represent a successful season to me.

Sacking Brendan now would move us another step backwards in my opinion, the club needs some stability.

That's just an excuse to buy time. Look at clarke, hughton, laudrup....all new managers, all above us in the league and their combined net spend is negative.......a good manager doesn't need a lot of time to improve results.

See my previous post. All these managers were simply building on the good work of previous managers at the club and playing a similar style of football.

In the case of Liverpool it is a completely new formation we are playing. I think with a clinical striker, we would be far higher up the table and am waiting to see how we get on in the 2nd half of the season

Exactly, we have dominated the majority of the games we've played. We all know we are missing a striker this season and I believe that to be down to FSG. The current team doesn't have enough goals in it, I'd hold my judgement on him till the end of the season when (hopefully) we address the striker situation in January and we can see how the rest of the season plays out.

i think I clearly said 2012. Brendan has improved on the rest of our league results obtained in 2012, therefore he has improved the team. quite simple really.
after 17 games I am dumbfounded that anybody would want the upheavel of change as you are suggesting - very narrow minded in my opinion.
stan did say a few weeks back that it would be bumpy, I have to agree.
