First point, enough of the utter Rafa bashing. Yes we have been horrible this season and yes he has made ridiculous mistakes and after the pressure began to mount on him he started bringing out defensive teams to not lose instead of win.

He is stubborn and will not be heard on the issue that replacing Alonso with Lucas is like replacing the base of the Eiffel tower with pudding. Another point is that the line up against Stoke was unforgiveable. We started with 6 defenders 2 defensive midfielders and Kuyt and Ngog up front, when Aqualani, Reira, Maxi and Pacheco could've went out and actually had a go and when you start a team like that your saying to your players for the love of God whatever you do don't lose. You don't have to score or attack or anything but just don't concede..... you know what everyone stand shoulder to shoulder in the net for 90 minutes that would do it.. Which leaves you with a very very nervous team come the last 15 minutes.

Again back to my problem with rafa bashers, yes he has made some huge cock ups this season and may well deserve to get sacked for his performance this season . Firstly you don't become a bad manager in one season, so enough with this he's always been crap he never accomplished anything hes a fat waiter, he wasnt responsible for Istanbul (he was one of reasons along with Gerrard, and Carragher that we were near the final at all, i mean he got the champs league final with a starting 11 that including Biscan, Traore, Smicer...etc) bla bla bla its disrespectful of a man who brought us silverware, improved us greatly in his tenure and worked his socks off for the club... moreso its disrespectful of Liverpool fans, we don't operate like bitter United fans.. When a manager can do nothing more for us we say thank you for the effort and show him the door.

Finally i say his final mistake was not replacing Keane when he left and so we have been in the position we've been in now for two yeares in that if we got substantial injuries we're joe pucked. But Gerrard and Torres stayed fit and Alonso and Mascherano worked wonders in midfield. Now that we have neither of these we look incredibly weak. We have not become a bad club oveer night and should we get back to full strength we could be great again. Our full strength line up is:

Pepe Reina
JOhnson,Agger,Carra,Insua
Mascher,Aqua
Reira,Gerrard,Maxi
Torres

This is world beating side any day of the week. Not that im one of these blind Rafa followers who also get on the tits. I personally think a manager cannot play with such a defensive anti football mentality also that he has lost the dressing room and should be shown the door, but mi a fan who wants to do this with respect because Rafa may well be one of the best managers in the world and after he leaves will be scooped up by Madrid or Milan. And so no Fat waiter gags desppite being hurt and hirrified by each performance instead i think its just his time to go. Thanks for the memories Rafa

A little positivity immediately stomped out by Emp.. dont fix what isnt broke i guess??

Aqualani is world class because of what he has done for Roma over the years when he wasnt injured which was caused by terrible physios, hes still gettin gover it he's been out for so long but i think come next year when he gets a little more comfortable he will come good, Unless of course after 4 games after being out for two years we should sell him, And Maxi Rodriguez has been excellent ove the years and still could have a few good years in him.

I never said Reira and Insua were great i said that it was our strongest team, on a good day Reira is good although i do agree with you on Insua but i dont rate Aurelio.

Why does everyone on here give Emperor Rafa such a hard time? I totally agree with his comment above. Aqua has done some good things for Roma but spent much of his time there injured. He has spent much of his time at Liverpool injured and the time on the field he does indeed look poor. World beating side? You must be kidding. And I a getting very tired of all this be nice to Rafa rubbish. He is crap and I think it is time to just admit it. I am over all this free pass bullsh*t he gets for winning the CL.

Decent post Irishkop.

I'm finding it hard to recall a manager of any Premiership side who has taken such an onslaught for as long as this. It feels like a constant daily barrage from every corner of the media and ex-players who have had glorious failures themselves in the managerial circle, saying nothing constructive and adding nothing to the situation. Souness the latest and the balanced view I've always tried to have on his tenure at the club, after his comments today, rapidly disappearing.

I'm not a blind Raffa follower either, but this now has turned into an absolute disgrace. Reading the Stoke after game report in the Guardian it appears it wasn't lost on our away contingent either with them showing a rapturous defiance at the end of the game and none of the media encouraged 'Raffa out' type stuff they all appear to want to report.

A little respect for a man who's doing his best even if it appears not to be enough, would be a refreshing change.

Good post. I agree that he needs to go too but lets stop the insults. Its disrespectful and not how we should behave in football or in life.
