so why is it against the stadium safety rules? or do you interpret them as you see fit? You seem relaxed about stadium safety ?

Maybe we should all have wheelchairs on the streets, that way were not standing so no assaults, criminal damage, murders, robberies etc could possibly take place.

Not a bad idea, the wheelchair. Then apply a bit of body spray paint, develop a liking for the same sex and you get a 4 bedroom house freebie!

yes, i have. but Rio getting hit with a coin has absolutely NOTHING to do with fans standing during a game and EVERYTHING to do with just 1 scumbag who hit him with a coin, simple as. no need to preach and get emotional about it, nice to see joe's little comments are still getting the reaction he wants from people.

Stan, clearly you've never been to an all seater stadium... you couldn't cause a crush if you wanted too with all those seats in the way.

All seaters also mean you have to have a ticket with an allocated seat - meaning the capacity can never be breached.

You barking up the wrong tree agreeing with your man Joe - either that or you're just plain barking.. whistle

i don't deny i am barking. I think i have attended an all seater stadium not sure is anfield all seater? anyway the clue is in the name all seater. appreciate you cannot cause a crush as was in the case in standing areas but it is dangerous and down right pig headed to the poor buggers behind you, i hate oafs who stand in front of others and if i agree with joe then great sometimes he is right this being one occassion.

stanley would'nt bother trying to explain to him mate, clearly does'nt understand the dangers in standing up in all seater areas, clue to it is the stadium safety rules and regulations all cater for fans sitting in a seated area, if you stand then those same rules will not apply so in doing so will put fellow fans at risk...

Had their been deaths would that have been the fault of fans or the authorities for not organising things. The answer is probably a bit of both. We all have a responsibility and standing up or throwing a coin is the road to worse things.

Don't think i can agree Stanley, drunken fans forcing their way through in athens...causing possible deaths , or throwing a coin are both far cry's from standing up in an all seat stadium, much as I dislike that practice, as much for my aging legs as for the lack of courtesy to those behind.
However if standing was the cause of all you seem to ascribe to it none of us would've survived long enough to see an all seater stadium. I have stood in a stadium in Dublin many times over the years with well in excess of 90,000 fans some with toddlers in arms, there wasn't even crush barriers and with very few stewards and in all those years there was never a problem, no Stanley standing in Stadiums has not led to any of the problems mentioned in this thread, and should not be equated or associated with Hillsborough, coin throwing, or the actions of drunken fans.
