What makes a player World Class?

For me it's the following attributes:

Intelligence - Vision, Awareness
Technique - First Touch, Passing, Close Control, Dribbling, Shooting, Finishing
Physique - Pace, Power, Balance, Leap
Mentality - Composure, Big-Game Performances, Consistency


This then leads on to my second question, is Suarez World Class?

Suarez has:

Great awareness - always seems to know when a players legs are open so he can nutmeg them.

Close control and dribbling - Second to none.

Shooting - Theres been some question marks over his finishing but its improved as the season goes on and he definitely can pull a great long range shot out of the bag.

Pace - Not blistering but fast

Power and balance - great strength and balance to twist and turn, and he's stopped going down so easy.

Composure - might be lacking slightly given how he seems to miss the easier chances but scores the more difficult.

Consistency - been one of out most consistent players, only thing that's been a little inconsistent is his finishing.


For me he's world class and has been the best striker in the premier league this season

an over used meaningless phrase. for me it means to have performed well in a world cup final

In my opinion it's the player that can play in any team in the world and be the difference! Messi , Ronaldo are world class players and they have never been in a World cup finals ! Suarez is close to being it probably, no yet, but getting there !

the world world class is branded around far too much these days. as some people have said a worldclass player for me is someone that would walk into any/most teams in the world ( club or country) this are some player that think are world class

* messi ( no real surprise there )
* ronaldo
* iniesta
* falco

these are players that are branded as worldclass but IMO aint

* rooney
* terry
* rio ( even at his peak)
* fabregas
* villa
