Have I understood this right? unless he feels wanted he does not perform. How does this work try telling your boss that one tommorow
true stan, it wouldn't wash in my job. no doubt but we're dealing with a different world here. the parallels are...well...there are none. comparing my job to his is derisory
to clarify i'm far from defending him and i don't think it's right. my own personal belief is pretty traditional ie if you're paid to do a job, shut your mouth and do it. but footballers are a little different these days.
carroll is one of those fellas that needs to be adored, it's why he did well at home in newcastle and took so long to settle/show any kind of form with us and, so far with west ham
You might have a point there, he was quite good at Newcastle,
even Capello selected him to play for England and was happy with his first game performance, and no need to check Capello's credentials. However, i remember Capello complaining about his drinking problems, and we did see some flashes of any quality he might have from time to time (City home game when he scored twice, FA cup final when he came on, his game in the Euros and a couple of man of the match performances last year if i am not mistaken, but they were flashes).
He remains a mystery but I don't think he is a bad player, not worth what we paid for though. Look at Torres, an even bigger mystery, who would have said he would turn into what he is right now at Chelsea.
