Re Loyalty from Gerrard (see below)

In regards to his contract issues with Liverpool, Gerrard told the press after the final, "How can I leave after a night like this?" But negotiations soon stalled and on 5 July 2005, after Liverpool turned down another lucrative offer from Chelsea, Gerrard rejected a club-record £100,000-a-week offer. Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry conceded the club had lost Gerrard, saying, "Now we have to move on. We have done our best, but he has made it clear he wants to go and I think it looks pretty final." The next day, Gerrard signed a new four-year deal as Parry blamed the earlier breakdown of talks on miscommunication between the two sides.

By the way, the next contract signing only happened after fans started burning his Liverpool shirt.

Gerrard is destined to retire at us. Wanting to sell him is just silly.

Yes some of his performances have been poor recently but he still has got a lot to offer our club, not to mention the fact that he is a legend of the club. I would personally slowly ease Shelvey into the team with Gerrard playing less games but still being an important squad player

the reason sg is under performing, cuzz he has carried the team for the past 6/7 years and won games by him self......so his back is playing up now....can not blame him for that

so sg is entitled to have a bad game, week, month or year...plus sg has to play with crap players like downing, hendo, cole and carry them each game, wen they play and perform well himself.

rafa knows how to get the best out of torres......sign SG

he should be playing a cameo role at this stage, not deemed to be a central cog to the team. ive said it before, i think he contributes to the team but giving him the arm band and trying to make him the lynch pin in midfield is holding back team development.

What an absolute outrageous, ludicrous and ridiculous notion born out of complete and utter overreaction!

Gerrard is under performing but to suggest that he needs to be sold is so disrespectful, I don't even know where to start. It'd be more beneficial to the club for you to support another team than for Liverpool to sell Gerrard.

Lucas' return will see Gerrard playing further forward hopefully and that's exactly where we need him. I agree that he's no longer 'unsubable'.

He won't ever be that player again but his role at the moment is different to usual and with Lucas back it will free him up to at least get back to some kind of attacking option.
He still performs well for England so he should be able to do it here as well.

To start, it's utterly disrespectful and economically lacks any kind of consideration to sell gerrard. ridiculous point. badly thought out (if at all)

gerrard has indeed been under par this season. the problem has been us missing Lucas. Stevie is probably playing more games than BR would like him to have played. he doesn't have week in, week out league form in him anymore. he needs to to be used sparingly like the mancs maximized scholes.

hopefully lucas will come back fit and we can slot either shelvey or gerrard in with him and Allen, that way we might see 100% energy in 50% of the games as opposed to 50% level in 100% of games
