Gerrard has been phoning in the performances the past 2 seasons and is clearly just picking up his big wage checks without giving us the Gerrard of old.

Today vs Swansea he was practically invisible on the pitch.

It has come to that time where he has to step aside, Suso or Sahin could offer a lot more than Gerrard in an attacking midfielder position.

If another clubs wants to offer us 10million for him in January I would take it.

Pete: Berg, I'm just not cut out to be a good person.

The man who was entertaining joining Chelsea but only decided not to because of the fans reaction.

How has Gerrard been inspiring on the pitch this season.
Name one match where Gerrard led the team on the pitch or pulled a bad result around?

Set piece expert? Give me an example of a goal he has scored from a set piece this season?

All players come to the end of an career, Gerrard is in in his twilight like Carra, in the past we would sell such players on under ruthless managers such as Shanks and Paisley.

Now we appear to be an retirement home for ageing players on very big salaries to either sit on the bench (Carra) or play in the first team phoning home performances (Gerrard)

Ok mate challenged accepted
first up a match he inspired the team? man utd earlier in the season, yes we lost the match however we had just been reduced to ten men when stevie g against all the odds smacked in a great volley to put us one up
next up goal from a set piece, now i dont know if u are young or jut really stupid as set piece doesnt just mean direct free kick it also includes crosses from corners and free kicks. an example of this is skrtel scoring against city from a gerrard corner and suarez vs everton.oh and ur saying he didnt join chelsea becuase of our fans forgive me for seeing this as loyalty? for your final comment about the retirement home.....ur rite we shud sell all our players over 27 and build a squad of 21 year olds except that hasnt worked for arsenal so why the fu@k should it work for us.Seriously mate?????!!!! Il back up my last point with a word from former liverpool player Alan Hansen

Which word is that from Alan Hansen?
The word he used for Man Utd ie "You will never win anything with youngsters?" only for them to go and win the Prem.

As for players over 27, where did I say we should sell players over 27? Please tell me?

Perhaps players over 32 and over should be sold ie Gerrard and Carra, not given huge contracts on big money, you will note that at Man Utd - players only get given 1 year contracts when they get into the later stages of football career.

Btw - would you say that Gerrard has been the man of our season so far?

I would name at least 8 players in the first team who are playing much better than him this season

Suarez
Sterling
Allen
Suso
Johnson
Agger
Enrique
Skrtel

Btw - we lost vs Man Utd so how on earth can you even claim that Gerrard inspired the team?

I can imagine you saying to Shanks or Paisley - we lost today boss but Gerrard scored a goal and inspired the team.

You would be booted down the pitch and all the way to Goodison by both of them and quite rightly to.

More loyalty?
To a player who got his head turned by Chelsea but did not go because he was afraid of fan reaction.

A player who plays for England and constantly returns injured.

I don't like Man Utd but for loyalty look at Paul Scholes - he quit playing for England to extend his Man Utd career.

Would Gerrard ever do that?

Gerrard should be loyal to the club who plays him over 100K per week.

There's a big debate going on here about Gerrard and to be honest, I'm not even gonna read it because I think it'd just be a waste of time.

I've been as critical as anyone (well okay, maybe not as much as some) of Stevie today. I thought he was fairly poor. It's not just today either, I don't think he's been good enough all season, and he wasn't anything special last season either. This is mainly by 'Steven Gerrard standard' though...

I think the thread topic suggesting that he be sold is absolutely outrageous and a complete overreaction. If he's not performing then I don't think he should be guaranteed his place in the side every week, but to suggest selling him, that's pretty disrespectful and very knee-jerk. Hardly worth discussing if I'm perfectly honest.
