I see a lot of views on here that astound me from time to time, but I genuinely cannot believe anybody would thing there was nothing wrong with this incident. An absolute disgrace' Don't know how that guy can look himself in the mirror. It's one thing cheating, but cheating in such an unsporting and blatant way is just disgusting. If that guy had've been on the end of a bad revenge tackle, he'd have deserved every bit of it. Classless piece of trash. So you dont like him then? We have earlier just been informed that two wrongs dont make a right!

I find myself agreeing with almost everything you say on this forum Bar but just can't see the logic in this. What he did was not cheating, in fact it wasn't even bending the rules as there's nothing in the rule book that says he has to give the ball back. You've branded what he did as 'cheating in such an unsporting and blatant way', yet it isn't cheating, granted it's unsportsmanlike but it's almost as if you're saying that cheating is bad but if you cheat in an unsporting manner that's much worse. What exactly is sportsmanlike about cheating in the first place? As I said earlier, I have changed my view of this incident after looking up other videos but the principles I was trying to express still stand.

Look mate, I read through the thread, and the point you were making earlier on in the discusssion about the Danish player feigning injury to try get the Shakhtar player in trouble - if that had been the case, then to a degree I'd be in partial agreement with you. I'd say, yeah, f*ck the guy. If he wants to try pull the wool over the ref's eyes to get a fellow pro punished, then let's not reward him for it. However, even if this was the case... Drop ball. Don't wanna give them the ball back? Fine. Kick it back to your own keeper. Problem solved. Don't kick it through and then run through one-on-one on goal with the keeper, that's a bloody disgrace. Unsporting play from any player trying to get an opponent sent off in the middle of the park does not warrant a goal for the opposition in ANY train of thought that I can relate to. It's so so wrong, in my opinion. EDIT: As for the 'revenge tackle' comment, maybe that was a bit harsh, said in the heat of the moment, but I have no time for unsporting play whatsoever. That guy isn't a man.

Yeah I don't think I helped matters by watching the wrong video and basing an argument on it If you watch the first video HERE, you'll see it shows no contact and it 100% looks as if the Danish lads is just feigning injury. After seeing that my attitude was exactly as you've just described how yours would be.

Have to agree with you Bar.
What Adriano did was totally unsportsmanlike. As you said, being a drop ball and not giving the ball back doesn't worry me, because the player was feiging, as long as it goes to their own keeper or the players are set up and ready to play and they play the ball under normal circumstances. Everyone could see what the intention was of the player who took the drop ball so Adriano should have let it run. Pretty ordinary I say!
As for the player who was feigning injury, it's seriously about time ref's started pulling out Red cards for this sh1t because it is ruining the game. If not Red on the spot because the ref is unsure, then at least a yellow and a retrospective red and 3 game suspension if viewed by a panel and found to be feigning!

Absolutely. But it doesn't warrant a goal to the other team. That's not right. If they don't think the other team deserve the ball back, then they should kick it back to their own keeper, not fool the opposition and put themselves through for a goal. That's not right.

I honestly couldn't agree more with the sentiment of what you're saying mate. Two wrongs don't make a right and there are far more fitting ways to have dealt with it other than go and score a goal in that manner. But after seeing that video (the wrong one) my reaction was to have no sympathy towards the player I believed to be feigning injury, nor his team if I'm honest. My initial thoughts were that he'd be feeling terribly embarrassed with his actions which have been brought more attention by the controversial goal and that would be fitting enough.

Cheers KOTP. I still agree that the player wasn't shot but regardless of how much/little contact there was, I think we just disagree in a general sense on this issue and not just this specific one though.
Having stepped back for a while on the issue I can see your point a little clearer. I agree that players should be punished when they do feign injuries, just I believe never in this manner. It is akin to someone taking the law into their own hands in real life.
Retrospective bans and fines are the way to go I think with diving and play acting. This reduces the pressure on referees and should start making players think twice about diving.
I don't think they can ever bring in an official rule about incidents like that because it would be very hard to word properly.
