No reason at all to have Cole, Hendo, Sahin & Shelvy on the bench. IMHO there should have been a space for Morgan or Yessil. I know they're young and inexperienced but at least they are natural strikers with the instinct to play in that position. Heaven forbid Luis got injured - we'd have no natural replacement. Poor decision. There's no point in Cole being on the bench. He gives us nothing. Secondly, what was the point in bringing Carra & Shelvy on so late? The game was won after the third goal went in. Better to take Luis off with 15-20 to go to give him a bit of a rest and avoid unnecessary injury? Same with taking Agger off so late. No reason he couldn't come off with 15-20 to go as well. And why not give Coates some game time when we're cruising at 3-0 instead of Carra? Missed opportunities, methinks, BR. Despite that, an encouraging result.

I agree with your comment about Coates, but Suarez deserves the chance to take the ball home.
The only reason I can make for Cole is that he can be put in the window for the January sales.
If Morgan / Yessil etc where on the bench they would likely be taken out of any reserve football, and it is playing time that they need not bench warming. They will likely be in the squads for away trips or cup games for the experience of being involved.

Didn't say I wasn't happy. Just looking for ways to improve! It was an ideal opportunity to give game time to a couple of less-experienced youngsters.

I agree it may have been but Suarez was in for a hatrick and deserved the chance to get it but you're right that Coates should have been given a run instead of Carra!

I think it's pathetic to moan about people 'still' not being happy. The guy has a point to make and is looking for discussion, this is a frigging, right? Granted it was a good weekend all round for Liverpool but isn't this where we discuss our Liverpool related issues, or do we all have to become smiling robots after our first win in seven games? Sorry guys but I find that attitude a little arrogant.
In reply to the OP, I disagree about taking Suarez off earlier as he was on a hat trick and deserved a chance to finish it off, if he had only scored one of today's three goals I would have to agree with you. You're right that Coates should have been given valuable playing time over Carra. And I don't even know where to begin with Joe Cole, he contributes absolutely nothing and there's far more deserving youngsters that could have been on the bench, Adam Morgan and Jordan Ibe spring to mind. I don't see why their involvement in first team training throughout the build up to the game, sitting on the bench and maybe even getting 10 mins on the pitch means they can't be involved in reserve football.

This is a very good thread unlike most. i agree with you about the bench and i would personally would have taken off suarez when we went up 2=0. i can understand about keeping him on and seeing if he can get a hattrick but his the only striker we have and we should try to protect him.

The guys on a roll and this whole thread seems to be searching longingly for something to moan about. Its been a good day, enjoy it!
