We have to apologise for the way we performed. We have to give credit to Reading, hold our hands up. We all like to win but when you don't, you have to be a good loser.

"We have to accept they deserved it. But, at the same time, we have got to look at ourselves and the way we performed was not acceptable.

"We've got a massive game coming up against Stoke now. It will be very tough, as we played extra time and we have got to show enormous character to come back.

"But that's what we have got to do. We have got to move on but, at the same time, we have to say sorry to the fans who came to Anfield and all those watching on TV."

No excuses
Carragher also refused to blame off-the-field matters for the below-par showing.

"We have got to do better and we have got to recover," added Carragher. "There are still four months left of the season; it's been tough and this result has made it a little bit tougher for us.

"But we are Liverpool. We can't be where we are and we have got to improve. Liverpool Football Club demands certain standards. At the moment we are not reaching them and we know that but we have all got to come as one and stick together.

"The stuff that goes on off the field has got nothing to do with it. I don't think so anyway. If you say it has, you are only making excuses. Whatever goes on behind the scenes, we have got to do our own job."

he didn't exactly come out in support of Rafa in that statement.
Is it a sign?

Oh I dunno. I reckon rafa wrote that for carra to read out, only he added a few flowery werds to appease the fans.
All a load of old parrot talk imo...we must improve etc etc etc yawn zzzzzz. tired

I want to be reading as to WHY things are so so bad, NOT how 'we must improve' repetative crap

atleast he had the balls and the decency to say something meaningful and not dodge the seriousness of the situation,
carra was the only one that really cared about winning last night the rest were happy to just go through the motions.its all stemming from rafas negativity

naw if rafa wrote that he would have included something about the players being behind the manager ..... that is defo jamie talking ..... this is a clear statement that the players aren't playing for rafa anymore imo - carra always gives rafa his backing but there was none here

I think we have too many average players at the club, those average players are dragging the confidence down. Stevie cant rely of Lucas to give a quality pass.

On the other hand, the team is vitually the same as last year exclude alonso. The defence has retrogressed, The midfield is rotten. The great players have knocks. The players rafa brought in have thus far all failed to live up to expectation.

Carra looks like he is on his last year of football. Steve is a fraction of his potential. Ngog has ability, but lacks experience.

Oh yes, I'm not denying Carra's faithfulness and willingness to appreciate and show that the fans are in the main very very p1ssed off presently.
I'm just sick of reading the same stuff over end over again. We need some positive answers as to why things have gone so badly wrong this season, and we want those answers now.
No more dilly dalying with words of hope and re-newed effort for the next match all the time.Sick of listening to it.

So, WHAT went wrong between May and August, and don't say Alonso left, or I'll remind you of the battering we dished out to the mancs without him last spring.

i completely agree with that but its rafas job to change and he is just not doing it and now hes hiding from the truth that hes not up to it by blameing everyone but himself, his interview after the match was a joke
