Everybody needs to drop this 'the way we are trying to play', 'our style of play', and even worse..'tika-taka' business when talking about us and certain players.

I just saw in a thread about the Anzhi game say Flanagan won't fit into our style of play. He's a freaking defender. In a football team of 11 men. We don't play with linebackers and safety's.

I think everyone has just assumed that Rodgers would be doing something revolutionary, when in fact to my knowledge he never mentioned 'tika-taka' or trying to play like Barcelona.

We pass and move, like we always have done, and like, surprise surprise, pretty much every other team. Barring Stoke and maybe Sunderland who hoof it up more than other teams, nearly everybody else passes the ball around and tries to keep possession. Some teams might not be great at it (like us at the moment) but it's nothing revolutionary.

What Barcelona do is something special, something that not many teams can get close to achieving, and is certainly a far cry from simply relying on passing and possession.

Talking about our 'tika-taka' or whatever just seems counter productive. We have scored from corners have we not? Not taking them short every time. We still have tall, strong players on the pitch do we not? We scored a route one goal last weekend did we not?

It just really winds me up when I see that phrase used.

A more worthwhile topic of discussion would be our formation and wether that needs to be changed (I think it does, I would like to see 4 or 5 in the midfield, not 3)

People just use it as a way to defend how badly rodgers is doing: ie, "give him time, he's implementing a new 'philosophy'".
From what I can see we're doing pretty much what we always have done apart from a minor tweak where we retain possession by passing short from the back without the risk of the 50/50 high ball upfield. Hardly revolutionary and it certainly shouldn't take a year or 2 for the players to get used to it!!!
It's just excuses from people not willing to accept how bad we are. Ostriches.

Yeah, we maybe try and play our way out of trouble a bit more than we have usually done. Which should only be done when the time is right anyway. But definitely nothing revolutionary.
