So if Carroll's time with us is done, then what kind of strikers are we looking for? Someone with pace like walcott?
I just find it strange that we are restricting ourselves to having the ball on the ground and on many occasions, when we run out of options, our wingers will send aerial balls in only to find nobody in the box capable of challenging the center-backs to attack the ball.
I suspect BR's system will work but we will need very, very technical players like messi, iniesta and xavi to knock the ball around. But how many of these players are available and can we even afford to buy their leg hairs?
Until then, we really need results to move up the table instead of fancy passing. How I miss the days where we ground out 1-0 wins week in and week out. Just compact, solid and unbeatable football. Gone were the days where teams could hardly have a sniff at our goal especially at anfield. If BR's 'philosophy' depends on very technical players then he must coach people into that role. Isn't that part of his job description? yeah in theory, CarheX, but silk purses from sows ears 'comes dropping slow' and where will we be in the meantime? If FSG want this style of football they need to open their purse strings. ut the fools the fools they thought all they had to do was sack and appoint at management level and hey presto we're playing tiki-taka, make a cat laugh if it wasn't so damned tragic. What part of the world are you from, and are these sayings well known there?

Carroll's time here showed that he is unable to play in any system nevermind what Rodgers is trying to do, he scored 3 or 4 goals all season. We should accept the 17m from Westham and forget that we ever brought Carroll. I actually liked the lad but couldnt agree more with this. His time with us is done. +1

That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

No one asked for this 'tiki-taka'. It was BRs supposed masterplan. If you're coming to a cash strapped club like liverpool with a plan that requires the best players in the world in order to succeed, then you'd better be able to develop them using your coaching skills because the money isn't there and neither is our ability to attract the required type. very true. However the 'tiki taka' system has been in place through the academy for 3yrs now since Benitez installed the spanish coaches. The problem is the oldest of this bunch is 19 and not quite ready for first team football. Certainly Liverpool could not put out a team of these players in the prem because as talented as they are, physically and tactically they have some way to go. it's no coincidence that BR's success stories this season are players who are young and have been coached in tiki taka- sterling, Wisdom, Suso, Shelvey or who he worked with before like Allen. senior players have been the ones who have struggled. We can either wait 2/3 more years with the same group or drop in now 2/3 22-24 yr old players who fit the profile - expensive

As far as I know, Benitez was not a Tiki Taka manager and even in Spain very few are, so would be surprised if he is the one who introduced that philosophy. Also, i don't think Wisdom is more Tiki Taka than Johnson, neither Shelvey. Sterling is a typical winger, nothing new. Up till now, we are underperforming Tiki Taka or not. As Carheex, this is the only thing I have so far to judge.

As Carheex, this is the only thing I have so far to judge. tiki taka has been around in spain for about 25yrs. spanish youth coaching is generally based on technical ability with the ball and less so on tactical or phsical attributes - unlike the UK. Spain has invested heavilly in coaching and has approx 37000 qualified coaches vs 7000 in the UK - Germany 57000. benitez recruited the Barca coaches and revamped the academy to reflect this modern coaching outlook of technical ability and playing between the lines. one thing when you look at the Liverpool graduates is the instant control and are comfortable on the ball. Suso and Sterling have excellent strength and control. it will take 5-10yrs for a barca type conveyor belt of talent coming through, but we are on the right track.
