The major honours faz would be the international competitions.

If honours are being used as the criteria to define greatness then surely it should be the major honours.
World Cup, Euro Championships, Copa America.

Jimmi Traore has a Champions League Winners medal.
Tony Gale has a premiership winners medal.

This is not my criteria by the way.

I posted that the criteria was the games major honours and they are the International honours that I listed above.

The point I was making is that to use that criteria is non- sensical as someone like Best never even played in a major International final. That had nothing to do with lack of talent, it was merely geographical misfortune.

Cryuff never won the World Cup or Euro Chamopionships, neither did Boniek. Does that mean they are not World Class either?

World class is so subjective and means something different to all of us.

Gerrard and Shearer both sacrificed there titles of being called world class by using there hearts to plot there career paths, if Maradonna, Zidane, Rivaldo, Henri or Lothar Mattaus had all done the same they would never of been regarded world class. What you have to remember is the best players in the world get to choose whichever Club side they want to play for so there is absolutely no excuse for them not winning the games major honours, Shearer's mistake was not joining United when he left Blackburn and Gerrards was not signing for Chelsea after Istanbul, both would of been labeled world class now with what they would of won, lesser players dont have the luxury of choosing where they play as they are dictated by the teams wanting them, not the other way around.

Not that I agree with any of that but if those players are wanted by your big clubs and turn them down do they still lose their world class tag?
